As a dedicated gamer with over a decade of experience under my belt, I have always been intrigued by the crossovers and creative expressions that players bring to life in various gaming communities. The recent reveal of a Destiny 2 player’s meticulously crafted Cole Cassidy costume, inspired by Overwatch’s iconic cowboy character, left me in awe.

A creative player of “Destiny 2” introduced a hint of “Overwatch 2” cowboy Cassidy into The Last City by designing a custom costume. They successfully transferred the character to another game through thoughtful use of specific Hunter Guardian armor pieces in “Destiny 2,” with a distinctive class item playing a key role.

Since the debut of Overwatch in 2016, Cassidy has been a prominent character in the game’s playable roster. Despite several updates to his abilities and a change from his original name, Cassidy remains a beloved figure among players due to his distinctive cowboy-themed combat style, most notably his deadly Deadeye ultimate ability in Overwatch 2.

I was amazed when I came across Julicious’s creation in Destiny 2 – a Hunter outfit inspired by Cassidy that I instantly recognized. With just the title “12pm,” they managed to capture everyone’s attention. It took me back to the iconic moment in the game where Cassidy says “it’s high noon” before unleashing his Deadeye. What an impressive tribute from a fellow Destiny 2 player!

Destiny 2 Cole Cassidy Costume Brings Overwatch Flair to The Last City

In “Destiny 2,” the unique Cole Cassidy costume for the Hunter class, customized with cowboy-themed armor pieces, accurately represents the character’s original design. The focal point of this outfit is the TM-Earp Custom Cloaked Stetson, which can be obtained through completing the Spire of the Watcher dungeon. Unlike regular Hunter cloaks that include hoods, the TM-Earp comes with two distinct parts: a cape featuring a tall collar and a shoulder pack branded with Tex Mechanica, and a large cowboy hat made of leather. The hat and cape acquire an orange-red glow when applied with the Ablaze color shader.

Cassidy’s brass-plated chest armor, armored left arm, and left shoulder-covering red poncho are emulated by a clever combination of the Braytech Combat Vest chest piece and the First Ascent Grips arm pieces, both colored with the Pomegranate Gloss shader. The shader adds a shiny yellow tint to the Hunter’s torso, while turning the cloth portions bright red. Meanwhile, the chest piece and shoulder pad merge silhouettes to resemble a single full cloth covering. The Guardian’s face was entirely covered by the Competitive Spirit mask from the 2019 Guardian games event and colored in Gambit Suede. The move to cover the Guardian’s face was of little consequence, given that no player Guardians in Destiny 2 have beards, so Cassidy’s facial hair would be impossible to replicate accurately.

Players admired Julicious’ costume for its authenticity and inventive western motif. Notably, they appreciated how he integrated Destiny 2’s The Last Word Exotic handgun, which shoots bullets like Cassidy with her Deadeye, into the design. Additionally, the Lucky Pants exotic leg armor was incorporated, adorned with Deep Pockets ornament and the Canis Coat shader. The Lucky Pants were a perfect fit for the theme as they significantly enhance handgun efficiency.
