CoD HQ will finally be smaller and easier to use ready for Black Ops 6

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Call of Duty under my belt, these updates are like a breath of fresh air. The UI changes have long been overdue, and I can hardly contain my excitement for the new streamlined interface that will make navigating the games a breeze. The ability to download Warzone separately is also a game-changer, as it’s given me more control over my storage space than ever before.

Ever since Modern Warfare 2 (2022) adopted a horizontal panel-style User Interface (UI), gamers playing Call of Duty have been expressing their desire for changes. This design has persisted in Modern Warfare 3, but with Black Ops VI approaching, it’s long overdue for an update.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share that the developers have officially listened to our collective voices! They’ve announced some significant adjustments coming to Call of Duty HQ’s user interface (UI) and file sizes during downloads. Can’t wait to see these improvements in action!

Call of Duty UI overhaul

Starting mid-October, I’ll be diving into an all-new interface for Call of Duty! The home screen will be game-centric, spotlighting our latest release and Warzone as the main attractions. Plus, there’ll be a curated selection of top content, so I won’t have to scroll through endless menus to find my next gaming fix.

From Black Ops 6 onwards, every new release will feature unique, personalized user interfaces tailored to quickly guide players to their preferred game modes and content. During the beta phase, gamers can get a sneak peek at what BO6’s interface has to offer.

Download size reduction & game file organization

The initial significant changes for CoD HQ come on August 21, accompanied by MW3 Season 5 Reloaded. This update will restructure the game data and divide Warzone from the yearly titles, enabling players to download the battle royale separately, thus providing them with more flexibility in deciding which game files are installed on their system.

As a devoted gamer, I’m excited about the upcoming expansion in texture streaming technology. This move is aimed at minimizing download sizes significantly. However, contrary to what the size might suggest, it won’t take up as much storage space as you’d think. This update is substantial because it introduces new technologies and rearranges game files to prepare for a sleeker, more user-friendly interface.

The developers assert that following this update, future Call of Duty downloads will require less storage space and consume less memory on your system. Additionally, they mentioned that Black Ops 6 will have a smaller download size compared to Modern Warfare 3 at its initial release due to these optimizations.

From August 21st through the conclusion of Season 5 of Modern Warfare 3, players will receive a range of gifts as rewards for finishing the download(s). Some of these rewards are:

  • 10x 1-Hour Double Player XP Tokens (10 Hours Total)
  • 10x 1-Hour Double Weapon XP Tokens (10 Hours Total)
  • 10x Battle Pass Token Tier Skips

In essence, these updates are geared towards enhancing the user’s experience within the Call of Duty HQ app for Black Ops 6‘s debut. We’ll learn more about the UI adjustments during Call of Duty Next, an event that will also provide additional information on multiplayer, Zombies, and how they’ll integrate with Warzone.
