According to a reliable source familiar with the Resident Evil series, we shouldn’t expect an announcement for the RE5 Remake in 2026. Instead, Capcom will likely reveal the Code Veronica Remake first.
Recently, the voice actor for Resident Evil 5 shared a puzzling message online, sparking rumors that a Resident Evil 5 Remake would be announced on the series’ 30th anniversary. However, it now appears this isn’t likely, and we might see a remake of a different, older Resident Evil game instead. The source of this information has also explained the reasoning behind this shift in plans.
Resident Evil Code Veronica Reveal Reportedly Coming in 2026
A reliable source, DuskGolem – who previously revealed details about Resident Evil Requiem and Leon Kennedy’s involvement – has clarified some rumors. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), they stated that a remake of Resident Evil 5 won’t be announced this year, but confirmed that we’ll finally see news about the Code Veronica Remake.
Rumors surfaced late last year suggesting that remakes of Code Veronica and Zero would be released in 2027 and 2028, with Code Veronica potentially being unveiled in 2026.
A recent post from a reliable source sheds light on why Capcom chose to remake Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero before other games in the series. Fan surveys reportedly showed the most demand for these two titles. Additionally, several developers at Capcom previously worked on the original Resident Evil Zero and have strong ideas for how to update it. Finally, remaking Resident Evil 5 and 6 would be a much larger undertaking, as those games are significantly more expansive.
Keep in mind that this information hasn’t been officially confirmed, so it’s best to view it with some skepticism.
