College Football 26 Is Free for the Weekend

Starting on August 28, EA Sports College Football 2026 offered a complimentary play event, perfectly timed with the kickoff of the 2025-26 NCAA football season. During this period from August 28 to 31, sports enthusiasts could sample College Football 2026 without any extra charges and even play as their preferred Division I college teams across all standard game modes.

Over the past few weeks following the release of the August Title Update for College Football 26, players have been treated to a free weekend play period. This update brought several modifications that gamers should take note of. For instance, defensive zone coverage behaviors were made more responsive in the August Title Update, and the difficulty tuning was adjusted to impact how effective CPU-controlled opponents’ pass rushes would be.

The August patch for College Football 26 also introduced changes to certain plays within the Flexbone and Wildcat formations, added mascots representing teams such as Memphis and Appalachian State, and addressed several gameplay issues with the Ultimate Team mode.

College Football 26 Is Free to Try Out Until August 31

As the opening weekend of the 2025-26 NCAA football season draws near, EA Sports is offering a free trial for its latest sports simulation game. From August 28th to 31st, gamers can try out “College Football 26” on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. During this free weekend event, you’ll have access to all standard gameplay modes such as Road to Glory, Dynasty, and Ultimate Team. However, please note that the digital download requires at least 40GB of available storage. Only the Standard Edition of “College Football 26” is eligible for this free trial. Unlike online matches on PS5, a PlayStation Plus subscription isn’t necessary to download and play the free weekend trial of “College Football 26”.

Keep in mind that when it comes to the Xbox Series X/S edition of EA Sports’ well-known football simulator, there are a couple of points for players to bear in mind. Firstly, to get a free weekend trial of College Football 26, you’ll need an active Xbox Game Pass membership. Secondly, for online matches, either a Standard or Ultimate subscription is necessary. However, there’s some good news for Xbox Game Pass subscribers: they also get two extra free weekend trials for Lost Eidolons and Surviving Mars, in addition to College Football 26. From now until August 31, Xbox Game Pass Core, Standard, and Ultimate members can play all three games at no extra cost.

During the trial period of College Football 26, you’ll have the opportunity to challenge others online, thanks to the cross-play feature. It remains to be seen just how many gamers will register for the free weekend trial of College Football 26.
