The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon to Be Adapted by JD Mollner and Lionsgate

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s official that Stephen King’s 1999 novel “The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon” is being adapted into a film, with JT Mollner set to write and direct. Mollner, known for his work on “Strange Darling” and “The Long Walk,” is expected to have a bright future in the industry, as stated by Lionsgate. While some fans like Colin Leggett from Game Rant may have preferred an adaptation of one of King’s other top stories, Lionsgate believes in Mollner’s vision for this live-action film, praising his ability to create characters that are compelling, heartbreaking, and emotional.

The Girl Obsessed with Tom Gordon”

This psychological horror story follows Trisha McFarland, a young girl who becomes lost during a family hike on the Appalachian Trail. Her only companion is her portable radio. The late George A. Romero and Lynne Ramsay have previously tried to adapt this novel, but now Lionsgate holds the rights. As of now, no cast members for the adaptation have been revealed or even hinted at. However, don’t expect Stephen King himself to appear in the project, as he seems to be stepping away from traditional acting roles.

Mike Flanagan, known for his work on Netflix’s “The Haunting of Hill House” and the film “Doctor Sleep,” is taking on a significant project – adapting Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower.” The director has revealed a plan for this ambitious endeavor. In the book series, Roland Deschain embarks on a quest to find the mysterious Dark Tower, a dark fantasy western narrative. Previously, the story was adapted into a movie by Nikolaj Arcel, featuring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey. However, the film didn’t receive positive reviews from critics or fans. Interestingly, Flanagan is also working on a reboot of the “Carrie” series for Amazon at present.
