As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that Concord has certainly piqued my interest with its intricate character system and the concept of Variants among the Freegunners. At first, it took some time to wrap my head around the mechanics, but once I got the hang of it, it added a whole new layer of strategy to the gameplay that I truly appreciate.
Concord effectively communicates the abilities and usage of each character, but it may take a bit of time to fully comprehend certain aspects, such as utilizing the various types of Freegunners.
In the game, players must gather a team comprised of various Freegunners available. They also have the option to select alternate versions (Variants) of these characters to bring diverse combat abilities into play during battles. This selection determines the specific roster of characters for each match. If you opt to include only the default Variants, you will be limited to using those particular Freegunners in your team.
How Variants Work In Concord
Navigate to the Main Menu’s Freegunners area, where you’ll find the Crew Builder tool. With this, you can arrange up to 12 crew members in any order you prefer, ensuring that at least 5 of these are distinct characters. If your active crew only includes Lennox Variant I, then for the upcoming match, only Lennox will be playable. You’re free to mix and match variants of the same character within this lineup, using whichever one you prefer.
Each variant offers unique combat abilities that you can utilize, and swapping crew members will grant specific Crew Perks. This allows you to choose a character based on their Crew Perk before switching to another Freegunner, or combine one with one of its variants within the same team – all while enjoying the flexibility of having multiple crews with various Freegunners assigned. Players can then pick and choose which setup they prefer for different game scenarios.
Initially, character Lennox has the innate ability to perform a roll move that simultaneously reloads his weapon, similar to a specific Overwatch hero. On the other hand, Lennox Version II will boast more ammunition capacity. Consequently, a team perk that decreases the cooldown on evasive maneuvers would be advantageous for Version I. This means that carefully selecting your crew members becomes an important strategy.
How To Unlock Variants In Concord
Hey there! On the left side where the Freegunners section resides, you’ll find our very own Job Center. This is where you can find your Daily, Weekly, and Seasonal tasks. Completing these jobs will earn you valuable XP that contributes to your in-game level progression. On the far right of these tabs, you’ll notice Variants and Reputation. The Variants tab presents a collection of lucrative jobs with time constraints. Finish all the jobs within the given time frame, and that specific Variant will be added to your Freegunners roster!
As you progress through the game, reputation, rather than offering immediate rewards, will grant diverse benefits. These perks could manifest as aesthetic items or variants. However, the next prize will remain a mystery until you finish the ongoing task at hand.
