Concord Lives On In New Secret Level Trailer

Key Takeaways

  • Firewalk’s doomed shooter, Concord, will get a second chance in Prime Video’s Secret Level.
  • Secret Level explores stories from various popular video game worlds.
  • Despite Concord’s shutdown, Secret Level’s episode based on the game will shed light on its world in a new way.

As a long-time fan of video games and a connoisseur of animated series, I must say I’m genuinely excited about Prime Video’s upcoming series, Secret Level. The fact that it delves into the untold stories of popular game worlds is a novel concept, and the roster of talent involved is nothing short of impressive.

Firewalk Studios’ game Concord faced closure earlier this year following a less-than-stellar response, however, it will get another opportunity with its PS5 shooter being featured in Prime Video’s upcoming anthology series titled “Secret Level”.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the upcoming animated series called “Secret Level,” which promises to delve into untold tales from the universes of beloved video games like Warhammer 40,000, Mega Man, Armored Core, Unreal Tournament, and The Outer Worlds. What makes this series even more enticing is its star-studded cast, featuring none other than Keanu Reeves, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ariana Greenblatt, Gabriel Luna, and Kevin Hart, who have generously lent their vocal talents to bring these animated characters to life!

Initially, when Secret Level was unveiled, it was guaranteed to feature an episode centered around Firewalk’s Concord, a game that had not been launched at the point of announcement. However, due to poor sales and the abrupt closure of Concord in September, there was speculation about whether the episode would materialize. Fortunately, it was clarified that the episode would still be produced, even though players could no longer play the game itself.

Secret Level’s Concord Episode Receives Trailer

In the brief existence of Concord, some might not be familiar with its unique universe, which is set to be illuminated by the Secret Level episode. Recently, a trailer for the Concord installment of Secret Level was unveiled on the show’s official X account, featuring a band of misfit heroes exploring a futuristic realm while executing heists across galaxies. The atmosphere has hints of the camaraderie seen in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy or the latest Ubisoft game, Star Wars: Outlaws. A summary from Amazon offers additional insights, suggesting that the episode will focus on Captain Cassidy and their band of Freegunners who embark on an ambitious heist and must fight their way past a fleet and cosmic tempest to secure their escape.

In a space-encompassing squad-shooter game, Captain Cassidy’s band of Freegunners are preparing to execute the most daring heist they’ve ever attempted. All that stands between them and liberation is a lethal armada and a cataclysmic cosmic storm.

In simpler terms, “Concord” was a multiplayer first-person shooter game where teams of mercenaries clashed, allowing players to select from multiple human and alien characters each with unique skills. The creators, Firewalk, planned to introduce new characters over time through a weekly series of cutscenes that would unfold their backstory and tale. However, just two weeks after its debut, “Concord” was abruptly taken offline and removed from the PlayStation store.

Secret Level Gives Concord A Second Chance In A Different Medium

Various video game adaptations have sparked curiosity about their origin, leading to increased sales of titles such as The Last of Us and Fallout after their television premieres. It’s plausible that Secret Level could achieve a similar effect for the games it adapts; however, unfortunately, Concord will not receive this benefit because the game is no longer playable. Nevertheless, maybe Secret Level can revive interest in the IP and help it survive in another format.

Secret Level will be released on Prime Video on December 10.
