Confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 Games Without Release Dates

The Nintendo Switch 2 is shaping up to have a fantastic year in 2026, and even more games are expected to be announced as the year progresses. Many fans are looking forward to the first Nintendo Direct presentation, likely happening in February, to learn more. Currently, confirmed games with release dates include Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, Mario Tennis Fever, and Pokemon Pokopia.

All of those games sound promising, but some don’t have specific release dates – they’re only planned for sometime in 2026. It’s hard to say if they’ll actually come out then, or later. Regardless, let’s take a look at what Switch 2 players can anticipate from both Nintendo and other developers over the next year or two.

The Adventures Of Elliot: The Millennium Tales

HD-2D Returns

  • Planned Release Date: 2026
  • Planned Systems: PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S

Square Enix is developing The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, a new action RPG with a beautiful art style similar to Octopath Traveler. Players will explore a large, open world, battle monsters, complete dungeons, and take on quests from characters they meet. The game features weapon upgrades and a helpful fairy companion. A demo is currently available on platforms like the Switch 2 for those interested in trying it out.

The Duskbloods

Bloodborne’s Spiritual Successor

  • Planned Release Date: 2026
  • Planned Systems: Switch 2

Currently in development by FromSoftware for the Switch 2, The Duskbloods is a new multiplayer game that was recently revealed. It’s set in a dark, gothic world and will feature challenging, Soulslike gameplay. Many fans have noted its visual similarities to Bloodborne, a popular game released in 2015 for the PlayStation 4, and have been hoping for a sequel ever since. While The Duskbloods might not be exactly what Bloodborne fans are expecting, FromSoftware has a strong track record, making this game one to watch.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

Flaming Tactics

  • Planned Release Date: 2026
  • Planned Systems: Switch 2

The next installment in the popular Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, is coming soon. Fire Emblem has been a fan favorite since 1990, and while Fire Emblem Engage was released in 2023, some players have been eagerly awaiting a new game. Fortune’s Weave appears to draw inspiration from ancient Greece or Rome, featuring battles in coliseums and other environments. Like previous games, players will have plenty of strategic options during combat, including movement and weapon choices. Based on the first trailer, it looks set to be another engaging tactical RPG.

Orbitals

Co-Op Anime

  • Planned Release Date: 2026
  • Planned Systems: Switch 2

Orbitals is a new game set in space, and it will only be available on the next Nintendo Switch. While details are scarce, it appears to be a cooperative game where two players will team up to complete challenges – from soaring through space with jetpacks to defending a floating platform.

This game will stand out in 2026 for two main reasons. First, it features a unique anime-inspired visual style, complete with a filter that mimics the look of 80s anime playing on an old tube television. Second, it’s built entirely around cooperative gameplay, similar to the game Split Fiction, but with an anime theme.

Professor Layton And The New World of Steam

Layton’s Long-Awaited Return

  • Planned Release Date: 2026
  • Planned Systems: Switch and Switch 2

The next installment in the popular Professor Layton series, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, is finally on the way. The last game, Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy, came out in 2017 for mobile devices. For those unfamiliar with the series, Professor Layton games center around Professor Layton and his assistant Luke solving mysteries through logic and math puzzles – think of them as a Sherlock Holmes and Watson duo. Details about the new game are still scarce, but the developers, Level-5, are working on it, and fans can expect a similar puzzle-solving experience.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park

A Mouthful Of An Expansion

  • Planned Release Date: 2026
  • Planned Systems: Switch 2

Released in 2023 for the Switch, Super Mario Bros. Wonder stood out as a uniquely quirky 2D Mario game. It’s getting an upgraded version for the Switch 2 in 2026, called Super Mario Bros. Wonder: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park. The trailer shows Bellabel Park as a central area where players can team up and play mini-games – one familiar level might even be revamped with a point-collecting challenge. It’s still to be seen if the added content will be enough to draw players back, but the original game remains a fantastic experience for anyone who hasn’t played it yet.

Yoshi And The Mysterious Book

Another Bingeworthy Story

  • Planned Release Date: 2026
  • Planned Systems: Switch 2

I’m really excited about the new Yoshi game, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book! It’s been a while since Yoshi’s Crafted World came out in 2019, and I love that Yoshi is getting another solo adventure. From what I’ve seen, it looks like classic Yoshi platforming, but the art style is seriously cool – it’s like a mix of stop motion and something hand-drawn. What really caught my eye is that Yoshi can team up with partners and do some unique things. For example, he can get a flower on his back to help grow other flowers and even weaken obstacles like rocks so he can smash them – the trailer showed it all off, and it looks awesome!

Mega Man: Dual Override

The Blue Bomber Is Charging Up

  • Planned Release Date: 2027
  • Planned Systems: PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

Okay, so I was super hyped to see they announced Mega Man: Dual Override at The Game Awards! It’s the first new 2D Mega Man game since Mega Man 11 came out in 2018. Honestly, I’m a little confused why they didn’t just call it Mega Man 12 – the trailer didn’t really show off any totally new gameplay stuff, so the name change is a bit weird.

Players control Mega Man as he battles robots through vibrant levels, using his iconic Mega Buster – which can be powered up for stronger attacks. The trailer briefly showed Mega Man seemingly changing form, but from a distance, hinting at new gameplay features. However, fans will need to wait until 2027 to experience the game for themselves.

Splatoon Raiders

A Mysterious Spinoff

  • Planned Release Date: TBA
  • Planned Systems: Switch 2

After eight years since the original game launched on Wii U in 2015, and following Splatoon 3 in 2022, Splatoon Raiders will be the first new installment in the series. The initial trailer revealed little about the gameplay, except that players will take on the role of a mechanic, work with a large robot, and journey across various islands. A fishing mini-game was also briefly shown, though it’s unclear if this will be a permanent feature. The title Splatoon Raiders might lead fans of Arc Raiders to expect an extraction shooter, but Nintendo hasn’t confirmed this. What is known for sure is that the game will be exclusive to the upcoming Switch 2 console.

Mina The Hollower

Delayed At The Last Minute

  • Planned Release Date: TBA
  • Planned Systems: PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S

Fans were excited for Mina the Hollower to release at the end of October on many different gaming systems. It’s the highly anticipated new game from Yacht Club Games, the team known for the Shovel Knight series. Many players have already tried out the demo on platforms like Steam and Nintendo Switch. Mina the Hollower is an action-adventure game played from a top-down perspective, similar to classic Zelda titles. You play as Mina, a mouse who can dig underground to overcome obstacles and battle enemies. While the game looks promising from such a well-respected developer, the recent delay is concerning, and a new release date hasn’t been announced yet.
