Core Keeper: How To Feed Cattle

As a seasoned Core Keeper adventurer with countless hours spent navigating the game’s vast and mysterious landscapes, I can’t help but share my insights on the intricacies of feeding and guiding cattle. It’s not just about surviving, it’s about thriving, and having a herd of well-fed cattle is the key to unlocking a bounty of resources.

In the game known as Core Keeper, players will find numerous aspects to delve into, including dungeon exploration, boss encounters, base administration, and resource collection. Yet, every explorer and budding home architect must attend to their sustenance needs, and there are two primary ways to acquire food: through cultivating plants or hunting animals.

To acquire food from animals within the game, players must venture out into different areas of the world, locate wild cattle, domesticate them, and subsequently utilize these creatures for accessing particular food sources that cater to their requirements. It is essential to feed the cattle as part of this procedure, and understanding this process might be challenging if you’re new to the game.

In Core Keeper, there are two categories of friendly creatures: adorable pets that aid in combat and adorable livestock that assist with resource gathering. The livestock, referred to as cattle, need careful management as they require feeding to generate the necessary materials. A player can feed cattle in three distinct methods: directly providing them with food, allowing them to graze on pasture, or setting up automatic feeders for continuous nourishment.

  • Hold the feed in your hand and stand next to the cattle.
  • Drop the feed on the ground near the cattle.
  • Add food to a Feeding Tray near the cattle.

How To Guide Cattle In Core Keeper

Should you come across livestock wandering freely, it’s crucial to lead them back to your settlement or even corral them for convenience in feeding and acquiring resources. To guide a wild animal back to your base, follow these steps:

  • Use the basic crafting table to make the Livestock Workbench.
  • Craft the Leash and Cattle Transport Box at the Livestock Workbench.
  • Use the Leash to guide animals and the Cattle Transport Box to directly capture them and bring them back to base.

If you don’t possess a leash, you could use food as an alternative to guide the livestock and follow them instead. This method might take more time, but it serves well for gathering animals when starting the game.

  • Make a structure to hold the cattle, and get a Feeding Tray with the feed of choice for your captured cattle.
  • Interact with the cattle to obtain their resources after they have fed.

If identical cows live together in the same location, they’ll give birth to offspring that are also of their kind following some period of feeding. These newborn calves won’t generate any resources until they reach maturity after being fed several times.
