Crash 4 Artist Claims There’s a Crash Bandicoot 5 ‘That Never Was’

As a long-time gaming enthusiast and Crash Bandicoot fan since the late ’90s, this recent revelation from industry veteran Nicholas Kole has left me both intrigued and disheartened. The idea of a fifth installment in one of my favorite franchises being cancelled is a bitter pill to swallow.

As a passionate gamer, I recently came across an intriguing post on X by renowned game industry veteran and artist Nicholas Kole. He shared some exclusive news that a new Crash Bandicoot title was under development – but unfortunately, it didn’t make it past the initial stages.

In a discussion regarding Project Dragon, a new intellectual property with recently lifted confidentiality restrictions, a curious fan inquired if it could be linked to Spyro. Kole made an unexpected revelation instead, disclosing the connection to Crash Bandicoot.

Kole predicted that people would eventually discover news about a nonexistent Crash 5 game, causing disappointment. No specifics were given regarding this hypothetical title.

People won’t be hearing about a fifth installment of Crash, it’s not going to be Spyro, and the disappointment that comes with this discovery may be quite profound.

In a previous response, it was mentioned that the cancellation of Project Dragon and Crash Bandicoot 5 were unrelated events. They further explained that these projects were “cancelled at two distinct studios, with no connection between them.”

In May 2024, Toys For Bob seemed to prepare for a significant announcement. Their website underwent an update, featuring a fresh new logo and a hint of a Tiki Mask. Some believe this could be connected to the Crash Bandicoot franchise, while others think it might be related to Spyro.

Recently, Toys For Bob obtained a publishing deal with Xbox for their upcoming game, however, they have yet to reveal the specifics about the title.

In the April of this year, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time surpassed the milestone of 5 million copies being sold since its debut in 2020.
