As a long-time follower and admirer of Ian ‘Crimsix’ Porter, it feels like coming full circle to see him return to his esports roots with OpTic Gaming after such an incredible journey outside of gaming. From dominating the Call of Duty scene as part of the legendary dynasty to becoming a successful racecar driver and iRacing creator, Crimsix has truly proven his versatility.
After taking a five-year break, Ian ‘Crimsix’ Porter is back with his original team, OpTic Gaming. Following the conclusion of his Call of Duty career in 2022, he ventured into car racing and iRacing creation. Post his departure from OpTic Gaming in 2019, Crimsix tried out a few organizations within the Call of Duty League but eventually decided to retire in September 2022.
A recently uploaded seven-minute video on social media sees OpTic extending a warm welcome back to Crimsix, elaborating on the reasons that make this choice feel so organic and fitting, even after all these years.
Back Where He Belongs
Crimsix is a member of the legendary Call of Duty team that includes Scump, FormaL, Karma, and himself. As the most successful Call of Duty player in the industry, he has played a significant role in boosting the popularity of competitive Call of Duty gaming.
In 2022, Porter stepped down from Call of Duty and shifted gears to a new passion: racing cars. Anyone familiar with him is aware of his car enthusiasm, and in a video shared by OpTic, he disclosed that a significant portion of his earnings goes towards cars – be it purchasing, maintaining, or enhancing them.
Speaking in the video uploaded on Twitter, OpTic’s CEO, Hector ‘HECZ’ Rodriguez said:
After a while, things are returning to their usual state. Over the years, we’ve maintained contact, and he’s one of my all-time favorite players. His contributions to OpTic Gaming have consistently placed us in a winning position.
I’ll forever cherish the time he invested here, which is why, in due course, I felt it was fitting that, having spent years at odds with both FormaL and Scump, he returned when the opportunity arose.
It’s only natural that he returns to us, for he has always been, and will forever be, a cherished member of our family.
During his free time, Crimsix has been streaming a lot of Black Ops 6, leading some to believe that his skills as a former professional player are still sharp enough for another big win. This idea has sparked a wave of long-time fans calling for his comeback in the Call of Duty esports scene.
That’s not going to happen, though – but he does have a place back under the OpTic umbrella, and that’s worth celebrating.
