The much-anticipated game, Crimson Desert, has experienced a delay, causing its release date to be beyond the year 2025. Originally announced in 2019, this medieval open-world RPG has been eagerly awaited but has faced multiple delays since then. Despite appearing closer than ever to its long-awaited debut, enthusiastic fans will need to exercise a bit more patience before they can finally get their hands on it.
Originally, Pearl Abyss planned Crimson Desert as a prequel to their previous game Black Desert Online, but it has since evolved into a standalone single-player RPG with influences from games like Dragon’s Dogma and Tears of the Kingdom. Throughout these changes, there have been several development delays, which have persisted throughout the project’s timeline.
Crimson Desert Has Been Delayed Until Q1 2026
During Pearl Abyss’ Q2 2025 earnings call, it was revealed that the launch of their game has been postponed once more, with a new target date set for the first quarter of 2026. Originally slated for release in late 2025, as per a statement made by the studio in December 2024, this delay is not a drastic change but still an unfortunate piece of news for fans. The cause behind this delay, according to Pearl Abyss, lies in extended collaboration with external partners on voice-overs, console certification, and distribution, which has taken longer than anticipated, necessitating the shift in the release window.

Pearl Abyss has given a three-month timeframe for the game’s release, but hasn’t provided any further details yet. The spokesperson mentioned that the team knows when the game will launch, but they are not ready to disclose it just yet. This approach mirrors how the company has handled the launch window so far. In June, a rumor about a November 2, 2025 release date for Crimson Desert was debunked by developers, who clarified at that time that no release date had been shared with any media outlets. It’s now clear that a November release is not on the table at all.

As an eager gamer, I’m thrilled to share that even though there’s been a delay, there’s still hope for some of us to experience the game before the year wraps up! Pearl Abyss has officially announced that a playable demo of Crimson Desert will be available at Gamescom 2025, happening in August. The financial report hints that the title is almost complete, with just final touches left to perfect it, suggesting that the demo could closely resemble what fans can anticipate from the full game. Although Crimson Desert‘s release date isn’t set in stone yet, it’s moving ever closer!
