Crimson Desert offers a huge amount of content for players to explore, with hundreds of quests, challenging puzzles, and plenty of hidden secrets. The game also features a wide variety of mounts, including a powerful mech. This mech lets you control a robot equipped with rocket launchers and machine guns, making it incredibly effective at taking down large groups of enemies.
Okay, so getting the mech isn’t a quick thing. Honestly, it took me around 50 hours of playing – and that’s if you do a decent amount of exploring – before I could finally unlock it. Basically, it’s something you’re working towards pretty late in the game, definitely an end-game reward.
Want to know how to get a mech and start soaring through the skies, taking out bandit hideouts? This guide will show you exactly how to unlock one in Crimson Desert.
How to Unlock a Mech in Crimson Desert

In Crimson Desert, you can get a mech—also called an A.T.A.G.—by completing the story. You’ll first get to control one during a battle in Chapter 10, but you won’t be able to earn the plans to build your own until Chapter 11.
At the beginning of Chapter 11, players can start the “New Designs” quest within the Ironflame Orcs section. Completing this quest will give you the blueprint for a Small Kuku A.T.A.G., which lets you build a mech at the Mysterious Iron Pot Workshop in Hernand.
To build the Small Kuku A.T.A.G, you’ll need these items: 1 Kuku Pot, 1 Abyss Cell, 5 Cogwheels, and 5 Small Batteries.
Below explains how to find each of these materials.
- Kuku Pot: Can be crafted at the Mysterious Iron Pot Workshop.
- Abyss Cell: Acquired by defeating Abyss enemies.
- Cogwheel: Acquired by defeating many different enemies.
- Small Battery: Acquired by defeating robotic enemies and pirates in Deleysia.
Once you build a Small Kuku A.T.A.G and show it to Marek during the “New Designs” quest, he’ll give you the blueprint for the regular A.T.A.G, which is an improved version. You can then build the standard A.T.A.G at the Mysterious Iron Pot Workshop.
How to Get a High Mobility A.T.A.G
The Small Kuku A.T.A.G is the first of several mech variations players can build. To get the High Mobility A.T.A.G, you’ll need to purify the Sanctum of Exaltation in Pailune. To do that, you must first locate the Witch of Kindness and begin her questline.

Completing the Sanctum of Exaltation earns you the Blueprint II: High Mobility A.T.A.G. This blueprint lets you build an improved A.T.A.G. at the Mysterious Iron Pot, as long as you have the necessary materials.
To build the High Mobility A.T.A.G., you’ll need these items: 1 Small Kuku A.T.A.G., 400 Small Batteries, 200 Cogwheels, 2 Power Cores from the Crown of Shadows, and 1 Core of Temperance. The following information details where to find each material.
- Small Kuku A.T.A.G: Blueprint for this is acquired by completing the New Designs factions quest.
- Small Battery: Acquired by defeating robotic enemies and pirates in Deleysia.
- Cogweel: Acquired by defeating many different enemies.
- Power Core – Crown of Shadows: Can be acquired by defeating creatures in the Abyss.
- Core of Temperance: Can be acquired by completing puzzles in the Sanctum of Temperance.
Once you obtain the High Mobility A.T.A.G. – a significantly improved component – you’ll have unlocked all the methods for building mechs in Crimson Desert.
