As a huge fan of Pywel, I can tell you it’s a seriously massive game! There’s so much to explore – tons of secrets, enemy hideouts, and collectibles everywhere you look. The world is split into five really different regions, and each one has its own unique landscapes and quests to complete. It’s amazing how much variety there is!
Crimson Desert, the main setting of the game, is a vast area with many towns and numerous smaller outposts to explore. This map will help you find everything you need, from quick travel spots to places where resources appear.

Navigating Pywel
Crimson Desert is a huge game that doesn’t offer much guidance, so getting your bearings in the world of Pywel can be tricky at first. Our interactive map is packed with information, and we’ll quickly highlight the most useful categories to help you get started.
Belltowers
In Crimson Desert, finding and ringing belltowers is a fast way to explore the world. Each belltower you activate lifts the fog of war, showing you important locations nearby. When you begin playing, it’s a good strategy to prioritize finding and ringing these towers to reveal as much of the map as you can.
Abyss Nexus
You can quickly travel around the world using special platforms called Abyss Nexus. These circular platforms are mostly found in the Pywel region and appear on your map as “Mysterious Energy.” Simply stand on a platform for a few seconds to activate it, and then you can instantly travel back to that location whenever you like.
As a player, I’ve discovered that you can find Abyss Nexus plates actually in the Abyss – it’s this cool area made up of floating islands that we’ll be going back to a lot during the game!
You can switch to the Abyss map by pressing the L3 button on your controller or scrolling with the mouse wheel on keyboard and mouse.
Abyss Artifacts
Throughout the world of Pywel, you’ll find Abyss Artifacts – small, cube-shaped items that let you improve your character. You can use them to boost stats, learn new skills, or make your best equipment even better, so collecting as many as you can is a great idea.
There are three ways of obtaining Abyss Artifacts:
- Complete quests and defeat enemies.
- Find Sealed Abyss Artifacts and complete their respective challenge.
- Activate an Abyss Cresset.
Important Vendors
Crimson Desert features more than a dozen different kinds of vendors. While their names generally explain what they sell or do, some merchants are surprisingly useful and important.
- Blacksmith: Vendors that can upgrade your weapons, armor, and jewelry.
- Confessional: Allows you to pay off criminal bounties.
- Stable: Offers equipment upgrades for your mount.
- Witch: Craft and socket Abyss Cores into your gear. Abyss Cores offer powerful passive traits to your character.
- Witches become accessible from Chapter 5 onward.
Points of Interest
Pywel offers more than just farms and old buildings to explore. As you play through Crimson Desert, you’ll encounter a wide variety of different places.
- Sanctum: A difficult puzzle you can complete for rewards. Most sanctums are locked behind story progression.
- Spire: A platforming, puzzle, and/or boss challenge. Some are tied to the main story, but you’ll have to find most on your own.
- Outpost: Territory held by a particular faction.
- On our interactive map, blue outposts are friendly; red outposts are enemy territory you must capture.
