After the release of Crimson Desert, many players found the controls difficult to use. Simple actions that usually require one button press often take multiple steps in this game. For example, on Xbox Series X/S, players have to press two buttons to interact with objects, or hold a button to run. While these seem like minor issues, they quickly become frustrating – a problem many reviews pointed out before the game even launched. Fortunately, players are already creating modifications to improve the controls.

Early Crimson Desert Mods Address Control Complaints

Since its launch, players have been creating mods for Crimson Desert to improve the game’s controls. Several stand out: odashikonbu’s “Smooth movement” lets players automatically sprint by tilting the controller’s thumbstick. Masrad’s “CDSprintHold” mod allows keyboard and mouse users to hold the Shift key to sprint. But the most impactful mod so far is “Controller Button Remapper” by kindiboy, which lets players customize controller buttons using a simple INI file.

These modifications all aim to improve the game, but don’t expect a perfect fix right now. User feedback indicates they each have minor problems and aren’t a complete solution, even though they are better than the original controls. However, these Crimson Desert mods are new, and future updates could resolve these issues and make them fully functional.
