CS2 Superstar ZywOo Says the Scene Misses His Rivalry with S1mple

GO Major expresses that he misses his competition with s1mple.

But not by him.

ZywOo and s1mple dominated Counter-Strike together for four years

During an interview at bo3.gg, ZywOo was questioned about his competitive relationship with s1mple and how it measures up to the emerging rivalry between Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov. In response, ZywOo likened donk and m0NESY to legendary sports rivals such as LeBron James and Michael Jordan, or Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

For four consecutive years, from 2019 to 2022, the intense competition between ZywOo and s1mple was comparable to that of legendary sports figures. Both players consistently ranked among the best in HLTV’s Player of the Year list, with ZywOo taking the title in 2019 and 2020, and s1mple doing so in 2021 and 2022. However, s1mple’s success took a dip in 2023, landing him at number 7 on the list, while ZywOo regained his dominance and claimed the top spot that year by winning his first Major at BLAST Paris.

When asked about his rivalry with s1mple, ZywOo replied, ‘I wouldn’t use the word ‘miss,’ but it seems the gaming community does. He has certainly contributed a lot to the game.’

After CS2 was launched, the player commonly referred to as the greatest of all time (GOAT) in CS:GO didn’t achieve the same level of triumph. Following this release, he decided to take an extended break due to dissatisfaction with the game’s current state. During his absence, NAVI won the initial CS2 Major without him, a victory that he claims altered his plans for returning. He temporarily played for Team Falcons in early 2024 and was later loaned back to NAVI to wrap up the year, but now finds himself on their reserve roster again.

Regardless of whether s1mple no longer competes at the highest level, the fierce competition between them, as instigated by ZywOo, has paved the way for future rivalries to develop. Let’s hope that this rivalry continues and doesn’t reach its conclusion just yet.
