As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for quirky indie games and a penchant for co-op adventures, I must admit that the latest update for Cult of the Lamb, Unholy Alliance, has me utterly smitten! This game has been a delightful addition to my gaming library since its release last year, and the addition of local co-op play is just the icing on the cake.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that the charmingly chilling roguelite game, Cult of the Lamb by Massive Monster, has introduced local co-op play with their latest update, Unholy Alliance! This long-desired feature is simply one of the numerous delightful additions for players to savor in this adorable horror gem that graced multiple platforms in 2022. Published by Devolver Digital, Cult of the Lamb casts us as a tiny lamb who, under the instructions of an almighty deity, must establish a cult to pay tribute to them.

In “Cult of the Lamb,” you oversee a blend of base construction and dungeon exploration, where your character, the Lamb, guides disciples in religious rituals, sermons, possibly offerings, and also ensures their physical needs are met. This involves constructing dwellings, farming food, addressing their concerns, granting favors to maintain their devotion, and maintaining cleanliness to prevent illness. While managing chores like tidying up messes and setting up altars, the Lamb journeys into nearby dungeons to face off against four Bishops and liberate the previously mentioned deity.

So far, Massive Monster has given fans of Cult of the Lamb three free expansion packs: Relics of the Old Faith in April 2023, Sins of the Flesh in January 2024, and most recently, Unholy Alliance. One of the cool new features coming to Cult of the Lamb with this latest update is local two-player cooperation, where one player takes on the role of the Lamb while another becomes the Goat. The duo can explore dungeons together, compete in mini-games like Knucklebones, and naturally, continue to manage their cult. Additionally, new relics and tarot cards have been added, some specifically designed for cooperative gameplay.

Cult of the Lamb Unholy Alliance Is the 3rd Major Update

The “Unholy Alliance” expansion for the game “Cult of the Lamb” introduces fresh characteristics to cult members, making them even more intriguing and difficult to manage. These cultists can now exhibit various traits such as insomnia or jailbreak their friends, become catatonic or cursed, and even snore so loudly they wake others. Furthermore, followers dispatched on missions may come back either inspired or traumatized by their encounters. Previously, the Lamb’s spouse might be displeased if they caught their leader with another, but some followers are now polyamorous and won’t mind the little lamb straying. However, other cultists might become violently jealous in such situations.

In the latest update of Cult of the Lamb, titled “Unholy Alliance”, players gain access to two new constructions within their religious enclave: a Nursery and a Knucklebones arena. The Nursery can accommodate up to three infants simultaneously, who will supply an abundance of fertilizer for crops until they mature at age 14. The Lamb may recruit one devotee per day in the Knucklebones arena; if this follower loses, they immediately advance in level. Additionally, this update includes various enhancements to gameplay and new missions, providing a compelling reason for players who haven’t visited their cult compound in a while to return.
