Cult of the Lamb: How to Sacrifice and Ascend Followers

As a seasoned cult leader in the mystical realm of Cult of the Lamb, I have learned to navigate its complexities with an unwavering devotion and a keen understanding of its intricate mechanics. The journey to build a thriving cult is no easy feat, but the rewards are boundless, especially when it comes to the Sacrifice and Ascension rituals.

In the game “Cult of the Lamb”, as players start constructing their own community, they’ll find it’s quite intricate. As the Lamb enhances the Red Crown, various traits, skills, recipes, and crucially, Rituals become accessible. By nurturing bonds with their Followers, players can accumulate a significant amount of Loyalty, which propels the development of their community. This Loyalty can be used to perform sacrifices and ascensions on cultists whenever the opportunity arises, furthering the progression of the community.

As a devotee immersed in the world of Cult of the Lamb, I must admit that the path to Sacrificing and Ascending my followers isn’t as clear-cut as one might hope. It requires some dedication and effort before you can even unlock these crucial rituals. However, the rewards are substantial, offering a potent blend of Devotion and Loyalty that can significantly amplify your cult’s power. Here’s a breakdown of how Sacrificing and Ascending Followers unfolds within this engaging game.

How to Unlock the Sacrificing Ritual (& What It Does)

Players eager to perform their first sacrificial ritual in Cult of the Lamb should progress through the Crusades within Darkwoods until they encounter and defeat the second mini-boss. This event triggers an encounter with The One Who Waits, who will bestow upon your character the Sacrifice of the Flesh Ritual as a reward.

By carrying out a Flesh Offering, the Lamb will gain a substantial boost in experience for their Crimson Headgear, potentially enabling gamers to unlock extra benefits during battles known as Crusades. These perks could include increased health, fervor, access to additional weapons, and even the activation of more curses.

The amount of experience that players will gain towards upgrades will depend entirely on the Loyalty Level of the follower that they choose for sacrifice. The Ritual itself will cost 75 Bones to perform (37 Bones if the player has the Cheaper Rituals unlocked in the Divine Inspiration tree) and will deduct -10 Faith.

To prevent Faith from dwindling, players can acquire the ‘Belief in Sacrifice’ Trait from the initial tree of the Afterlife section when establishing a new Doctrine. This attribute adds 20 Faith every time a Follower is sacrificed. Moreover, performing the Daily Sermon following a Follower’s sacrifice can aid in mitigating the loss of Faith.

Players need to understand that after performing the Sacrifice Ritual, they must wait several days for it to cool down before they can use it again.

Due to the latest “Sins of the Flesh” update, a new sacrificial rite has been introduced in “Cult of the Lamb“: the “Feast of the Ravenous“, which becomes accessible as a tier two Sins Doctrine. Participating players will forfeit 40 Faith and one follower to execute this ritual, receiving a Sin in return.

During a player’s adventure, followers may eventually reach a critical stage where they can no longer turn back. At this crossroads, they face two potential outcomes: either they succumb to old age or become offerings for The One Who Waits. However, there is an alternative path for those who wish to grant their Followers the most favorable conclusion.

In the game “Cult of the Lamb,” players can access the Ascension Ceremony by gathering a Stone Tablet and announcing the “Ascend Follower” law, which is found in the initial tier of the Law and Order section.

Much like the Sacrifice of the Flesh, when players opt to elevate a follower, they are presented with a roster of followers, complete with their respective ages and Loyalty Levels. It is worth noting that those followers with higher Loyalty levels offer greater rewards, bestowing a more substantial Loyalty bonus to the group upon ascension.

This ceremony carries a price tag of 75 Bones (reduced to 37 for those with the Cheaper Rituals Divine Inspiration perk). Each performance boosts the Cult’s Faith by +15 and significantly increases Loyalty among Followers. However, utilizing this Ritual sets a significant cooldown period, making players wait multiple days before they can perform it again.
