Cyberpunk 2077 2.3 Proves That Rising Tides Lift All Boats for CDPR

The journey of “Cyberpunk 2077” has transformed from a game requiring rehabilitation to a title that fans, including those at CDPR, can’t seem to get enough of. Initially delayed before release, it later underwent several patches years after its debut. The introduction of “Phantom Liberty” brought the action RPG to its full potential and rebuilt goodwill, but this wasn’t enough for CDPR. Continued announcements about more updates for “Cyberpunk 2077”, even beyond what was thought to be the final one, have been warmly received. Interestingly, the response to the delay of version 2.3 has been completely opposite to its early release days. This positive shift indicates the promising future of CDPR and their upcoming projects.

In an alternate scenario, CD Projekt Red might have chosen not to develop Cyberpunk 2077, allowing it to miss its potential greatness. Many games have faced a lukewarm reception initially but could have blossomed into something better if given more time and effort. Unfortunately, they were often left behind by their creators, publishers, or fans due to various reasons. Given the tumultuous launch of Cyberpunk 2077, it wouldn’t be surprising if this had been its fate, damaging CDPR’s reputation that was built over years of consumer-friendly releases. In this alternate universe, The Witcher 4 would have been announced, sparking excitement among fans. However, Cyberpunk 2077 would have remained a topic of discussion for all the wrong reasons, casting a long shadow on The Witcher 4 and CDPR’s reputation for years to come.

Cyberpunk 2077 2.3 is More Than an Act of Goodwill, Though

Thankfully, we reside in a world where CD Projekt Red (CDPR) didn’t abandon “Cyberpunk 2077”. Primarily, their reaction to the game’s flaws was reassuring and reflective. Instead of abandoning the project, they consistently released updates, bringing it from an unplayable state to a playable one, then good, then great, and finally to a level that matches CDPR’s reputation with “Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty”. Although there’s a possibility that CDPR could have stopped here, they continued releasing updates. These updates will eventually cease, but it’s the unwavering support beyond typical expectations that has generated such anticipation. The goodwill is evident because delays often provoke a lot of anger; instead, “Cyberpunk 2077″‘s 2.3 delay was mostly met with understanding.

The prolonged support for Cyberpunk 2077, rather than casting a lingering shadow on CDPR and their future releases, has instead created a positive impact. While anticipation for The Witcher 4’s unveiling was high, it would have been swiftly overshadowed by doubt. Instead, fans are choosing to place their trust in CDPR, recalling their past reputation for consumer-friendly practices. The ongoing work on Cyberpunk 2077 mirrors the approach taken with The Witcher 3’s free DLCs, thereby strengthening the bond between the studio and its fans, as well as boosting confidence in future CDPR projects.

As a dedicated fan and player, I’m excited to share that CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has collaborated on version 2.2 and is currently working together with Virtuos for version 2.3. Yet, this collaboration doesn’t lessen the significance of each team’s work, their investments, or CDPR’s ongoing commitment to this project. Both teams are crucial in making our gaming experience exceptional!

Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.3 Goodwill Will Translate to Future Games

Enthusiasts are already sensing a wave of positivity surrounding The Witcher 4, disregarding the unfounded criticisms about Ciri’s lead role in the game. Instead, it’s being met with immense anticipation and there’s no sense of apprehension or concern like with Cyberpunk 2077’s launch. Granted, anything can happen in this industry, but the anxiety or dread isn’t present. Instead, goodwill and confidence are. The same optimism applies to Cyberpunk 2077’s upcoming sequel, which may carry the specter of its initial release; Project Sirius, a multiplayer Witcher game; and Project Hadar, a fresh original IP. All in all, there’s a sense of excitement and positivity.

The ongoing dedication towards Cyberpunk 2077 transforms a mediocre game into a great one, and it’s striving to fulfill the expectations that were initially set high upon its release. Despite this, Cyberpunk 2077 has consistently surpassed what was anticipated following its launch.
