Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel is Working on “The Most Realistic and Reactive Crowd System”

The upcoming sequel for Cyberpunk 2077, as suggested by a recent job posting, promises an exceptionally lifelike and responsive crowd system, surpassing those found in any previous video game.

According to VG247’s recent report, Pawel Sasko’s latest post on X revealed details about seven job openings at CD Project Red for potential candidates dubbed as “the next Cyberpunk.” If you delve into the day-to-day tasks of the Lead Encounter Designer position, it appears that CDPR is developing an advanced crowd system for their upcoming Cyberpunk project, emphasizing the realism and responsiveness of Non-Player Characters (NPCs).

People in the community are now expressing their thoughts about the proposed crowd system for the next Cyberpunk 2077 game on the r/cyberpunkgame subreddit. Players are debating whether the developers should create a completely new city or enhance and expand the current Night City to make it even more detailed.

In a similar vein, numerous individuals have drawn parallels between the crowd systems in games such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V to that of the original Cyberpunk 2077. There’s also speculation about whether the crowd system in the next installment of Cyberpunk will surpass what Rockstar may create for Grand Theft Auto 6.

Much of what we understand about the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 follow-up remains shrouded in mystery at this point. What we do know is that it goes by the internal codename Project Orion. The creators have hinted that the narrative for Cyberpunk is a distinctly American tale, infused with a punk spirit, and thanks to the Boston studio’s involvement, the sequel will carry a more authentic American feel.
