Cyberpunk is Getting an Unexpected Crossover

Later this month, character Lucy from the Netflix series “Cyberpunk Edgerunners” will join the roster as the final Season 4 DLC character in “Guilty Gear -Strive-“, following a collaboration between CD Projekt Red, the developer of “Cyberpunk 2077”, and anime studio Trigger. Released in 2022, “Cyberpunk Edgerunners” is a tie-in series set approximately a year before the video game events and follows the story of David Martinez, an ambitious cyberpunk who finds himself in over his head after joining a group of edgerunners aiming to succeed in the bustling metropolis of Night City.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners garnered immense popularity, its positive reviews pulling more gamers towards Cyberpunk 2077 even years following its disputed debut and subsequent patch updates. In the course of marketing the series, CD Projekt Red incorporated elements from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners into Cyberpunk 2077, and soon one of the show’s main characters will make an unexpected cameo in a different game within the coming weeks.

Guilty Gear -Strive- Lucy DLC Release Date

  • August 21, 2025

In July 2024, it was revealed that the character Lucy from “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” would join “Guilty Gear -Strive-” as the final DLC character for Season 4. This weekend at EVO 2025 in Las Vegas, ARC System Works and CD Projekt Red unveiled a new gameplay trailer focusing on Lucy. The video displayed her fighting style and announced an upcoming release date of August 21, 2025. Prior to her launch, players will receive a free update as part of the “Guilty Gear Strive” Season Pass 4. Further details about Lucy’s addition will be shared soon.

In my gaming world, I’m Lucy, and the Guilty Gear -Strive- trailer kicks off with me trying to crack some mysterious computer system. But instead of a simple code breach, I’m suddenly whisked away into the universe of ARC System Works’ fighting game saga! Armed with my flexible Monowire weapons and a sidearm, I dive headfirst into combat against formidable foes. Just like V from Cyberpunk 2077, I can hack into enemies and corrupt them with malware on the fly. The trailer’s soundtrack, “I Really Want to Stay At Your House,” hums in the background as my voiceover reveals that I’m searching for someone.

Lucy’s unexpected appearance in “Guilty Gear -Strive-” has taken many fans by surprise, yet ARC System Works appears to be skillfully replicating her abilities and the visual aesthetic of “Cyberpunk Edgerunners” throughout her move set. Despite uncertainty about her role in the potential sequel series of “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners,” fans can now introduce Lucy’s cyberware onto the battlefield of “Guilty Gear -Strive- ” starting from August 21.
