  • Okarun and Momo Ayase top Dandadan popularity poll, Turbo Granny surprises in third place.
  • Dandadan manga by Yukinobu Tatsu has sold 5 million copies.
  • Second season of Dandadan anime set to air in 2025, fans can expect more from the upcoming season.

As someone who has been following the anime and manga scene for quite some time now, I must say that Dandadan has truly left its mark. The unique blend of humor, action, and mystery has captivated audiences far and wide.

The animated version of Dandadan left viewers spellbound with its wit and top-notch animation. For numerous fans, it served as a delightful conclusion to the year. The anime’s triumph can largely be attributed to the excellence of its original content. Without that foundation, there would be no Dandadan.

Lately, Dandadan conducted its inaugural popularity poll, and the results are out. Okarun claimed the top position, closely followed by Ayase Momo in second place. Given they’re the main characters, it isn’t surprising that two of the top three spots went to them.

Dandadan Popularity Poll Results

According to a recent survey, here are the top ten well-known figures from the world of Dandadan, as detailed further down:

  1. Okarun
  2. Momo Ayase
  3. Turbo Granny
  4. Jiji
  5. Aira
  6. Seiko Ayase
  7. Zuma
  8. Bamora
  9. Rokuro Serpo
  10. Kinta Sakata

Fans who only watch anime might not recognize all the characters from the list since some of these characters haven’t appeared in the anime yet. Since the first season has ended, there’s a good chance viewers won’t get to see these new characters in the show until the second season starts.

The results of the popularity poll are hardly surprising, except for maybe Turbo Granny being the third most popular Dandadan character. She finished the likes of Aira, Jiji, and Seiko.

Dandadan’s Popularity Is On The Rise

Yukinobu Tatsu’s comic series titled Dandadan has made a strong debut. The manga commenced publication in April 2021, and to date, it has published 17 issues. Prior to working on Dandadan, Yukinobu Tatsu previously assisted the renowned creators Tatsuki Fujimoto and Yuji Kaku.

As an assistant, Dandadan received approval to work on it, but he remained committed to his current position. He only started working on Dandadan once he had fulfilled his responsibilities. The manga has already sold 5 million copies, and this number is expected to rise even more following its successful anime adaptation.

In November 2023, it was announced that Dandadan’s anime version would be produced, with its first episode airing in October 2024. The animation studio Science Saru, known for their work on Devilman Crybaby, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, and Night Is Short, Walk on Girl, is responsible for the production.

In this anime production, Fūga Yamashiro took on the role as the director, while Kensuke Ushio handled the creation of the music. The everyday character designs were overseen by Naoyuki Onda, and for the alien and supernatural design aspects, Yoshimichi Kameda was responsible.

It’s been confirmed that another season of the anime will premiere in 2025, meaning eager fans won’t have a lengthy wait before they can catch more adventures starring Momo and Okarun!

Dandadan is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
