The Evil Spirit in Jin’s House
The Enjoji Household is Haunted by an Extraordinarily Strong Spirit
- Manga Debut: Chapter 28
- Anime Debut: Episode 11
After overpowering the Serpoians, Okarun, Momo, and Aira retrieved Mr. Mantis Shrimp from the school grounds and aided him in his journey back to his home world. Once he had left, Momo’s old friend Jin Enjoji arrived at their doorstep.
In my days at elementary school, I used to tease you, Momo Ayase. Now that I’m older and wiser, I deeply regret having done so. – Jin Enjoji to Momo Ayase
or
When I was a kid in school, I would often bully you, Momo Ayase. Reflecting on those times now, I truly wish I hadn’t. – Jin Enjoji to Momo Ayase
At first, Seiko hid the purpose of his visit, yet confided in Momo that since moving into a mountain house, he had been troubled by an enigmatic presence. He made attempts to persuade his parents that there was something amiss with their home, but they dismissed his concerns. One day, a spirit appeared clearly before Jin, leaving no question about its existence. From then on, he began to see it frequently.
Regrettably for Jiji, things only worsened from there, as a series of unfortunate events began to unravel his life at an alarming pace. His parents’ health took a turn for the worse, leaving him feeling lonely and without support. In desperation, Jin decided to consult spirit mediums with expertise in such matters, hoping they could shield his family and rid their home of negative energies. However, this action had unexpected consequences, as three out of five mediums took their own lives following the attempted exorcism.
Previously defeated exorcists found themselves unable to tackle the spectral menace residing in the haunted house, instead urging Jiji towards Seiko Ayase as the last remaining hope. Concurrently, the malevolent spirit persisted in its torment of Enjoji. With his situation seemingly hopeless and his life plagued by this relentless entity, Jin ventured to the residence of Seiko, uncertain if it was feasible to put an end to the terrifying force that had turned his world into a living nightmare.
Dandadan Season 2 Will Reveal the Bitter Truth About Evil Eye
Season 2 Trailer Leaves Quite a Few Hints for the Fans
In Jin’s residence, it’s not just an ordinary spirit haunting the place. It’s the notorious Evil Eye, a merciless and vindictive entity with a deep-seated hatred for humankind. For eons, he has been on a quest to find a suitable host, so that he can eventually bring to fruition his horrifying vision of annihilating all mankind.
A few weeks back, the season 2 trailer for Dandadan dropped, and it seems like the Evil Eye might take over Enjoji’s body, transforming him in the process. We don’t know how the sinister monster will deceive Enjoji, but fortunately, his friends are ready to stand by him in this fight. Intriguingly, the Kito family, who appear quite mysterious, are also shown to be deeply involved in this peculiar conflict.
There seems to be more to Evil Eye’s story than what initially appears, based on several subtle hints. His intense disdain for humanity might simply be characteristic of a malevolent spirit, but this interpretation would be overly simplistic, considering the trailer is riddled with veiled allusions to his troubled history.
In one image, a young boy is bound to a massive wooden post as fiery lava advances towards him. Jiji voices his belief that the Evil Eye has been tormented throughout its lonely existence. Simultaneously, Turbo Granny urges Enjoji not to empathize with him. Moments prior, the Evil Eye declared that its vengeance would persist forever. It seems that the malevolent spirit occupying Enjoji might have once been a child and suffered cruelty at the hands of humans. This could account for his ingrained animosity towards mankind and his desire for destruction.
It appears reasonable to infer that Turbo Granny made an effort to prevent Jin from overtrusting Evil Eye, but unfortunately without success. When Enjoji transformed into a host, it seemed like the malevolent spirit targeted Okarun, threatening Momo would follow. Additionally, there’s a scene hinting at an upcoming exorcism, which supports the idea that Jiji may become possessed in the future.
That idiot! I warned him, you can’t trust someone with the Evil Eye. ~ Turbo Granny
The trailer depicts multiple volcanic eruptions, an unusual occurrence given that Evil Eye, as a human, may have perished in a similar event. If he was bound to a post during this incident, it’s possible that he was involved in an odd religious or cultural practice. It appears likely that someone or something caused his tragic demise in such a brutal manner.
Peering at the trailer, I find myself intrigued by the tantalizing glimpses it offers, but I’m well aware that Evil Eye’s full history may remain elusive until season 2 unfolds its secrets. There might be crucial elements yet to be disclosed, waiting for their revelation in the upcoming episodes. For now, the intrigue of the forthcoming story arcs keeps me hopeful, with promises of thrilling action sequences and a compelling narrative that I can’t wait to dive into.
