Fundamental to the storyline of DanMachi are groups known as familias, which consist of people and deities banding together to either delve into the dungeon for power, establish businesses to amass wealth, or serve others. Through their quest for strength, numerous familias have demonstrated remarkable power; however, only a select few can truly be labeled as the most powerful.

In the world of DanMachi, the most powerful families consist of both skilled adventurers and gods. They excel in combat, dungeon exploration, and wield significant influence within Orario. These families have demonstrated their strength enough to claim top positions, some through questionable means like usurpation.

8 Hephaestus Familia

In this family, its members excel not only in the art of blacksmithing but also embark on thrilling journeys, earning them the title of Warrior Blacksmiths. Although based primarily in Orario, the Hephaestus Family is globally recognized for their exceptional craftsmanship. Their created weapons are of superior quality and highly coveted by dungeon explorers everywhere.

Moreover, being similar to a blacksmith family, numerous of their associates fashion extraordinary weapons for personal use. This enhancement allows them to exhibit stronger attacks compared to their peers, as exemplified by their level five captain, Tsubaki Collbrande, who wields a top-tier naginata she herself crafted.

7 Ishtar Familia

A Possessor Of Wealth And Strength

In the bustling entertainment quarter of Orario, the Ishtar Familia stood as one of the strongest families, boasting a seasoned level-5 captain at its helm. Despite the fact that many of its members were involved in the operation of brothels and worked as prostitutes, their primary source of income, they also ventured into dungeon exploration, albeit not as frequently as one might expect.

Regardless, the heart of the Ishtar Group consisted primarily of level fives and four’s, and their wealth and clout in the entertainment district provided them with a strong position that deterred many from challenging them. Sadly, Freya was not one to back down, and the Ishtar Group antagonized her, resulting in their swift downfall at the hands of Freya and her more proficient familia members.

6 Kali Familia

As a member of the Kali Familia, I can tell you that not much is publicly known about us, but we’re renowned for being one of the toughest families out there. Unlike other families in Orario, our training methods are intense and brutal, often resembling a deathmatch among our own ranks. This grueling process helps us to grow stronger and level up, which is why you won’t find many level five members among us – either they’ve ascended to level six or they didn’t make it through the challenge.

At first, Tione and Tiona Hiryute belonged to the Kali Familia, but later they switched allegiance to the Loki Familia. The Kali Familia consists exclusively of Amazonian goddesses, battle-hardened women, which makes them highly efficient in combat situations. Additionally, this group has two captains who are both level six warriors.

5 Ganesha Familia

The Ganesha Family stands out as the most extensive family throughout Orario, boasting a significant presence. Furthermore, they fulfill the role of Orario’s law enforcement, ensuring peace and order within the city.

As a member of the Ganesha Family, I’m part of a dynamic group of adventurers who double as beast tamers, utilizing a few powerful creatures to battle against other monstrous foes. Our family is renowned for our ability to tame beasts from the depths of the dungeon, an incredibly challenging feat that showcases our remarkable skill and strength. If just half of our level five members were to advance in rank, the Ganesha Family would possess the potential to challenge the dominance of both the Freya and Loki Families.

4 Freya Familia

Boasting Orario’s acknowledged strongest adventurer, Ottar, their prestige is further bolstered. Beyond Ottar, the Freya Family counts numerous powerful adventurers, many reaching level six, under its banner. Their goddess Freya, a cunning deity with grand ambitions, is always hatching plots and is ready to wreak havoc on others to achieve her objectives.

3 Loki Familia

Having A Level 7 Trio Makes Them Unrivaled

Fifteen years before the events in DanMachi, the Loki Familia had played a significant role in dismantling the Zeus and Hera Familias. Over time, they earned public recognition as a formidable group, initially ranking second to the Freya Familia in power. However, during the Great Faction War, the Freya Familia was dissolved, and an unexpected shift occurred: three members of the Loki Familia – Finn Deimne, Riveria Ljos Alf, and Gareth Landrock – all advanced to level seven.

Beyond its leading trio, the Loki Familia boasts considerable strength with its high-ranking officials: Ais Wallenstein, Tione, Tiona, and Bete. This demonstrates their significant positions within the group. Though Loki, their deity, often indulges in jest, never underestimate a trickster god.

2 Zeus Familia

15 years back from where my gaming journey begins with DanMachi, the mighty Zeus Family was eradicated. Yet, a millennium ago, they were the rulers of Orario, known as one of the most powerful Familia for thousands of years. Their strength and deep-rooted legacy echoed throughout our world.

Contrary to the city’s current Orario where level six and rising level seven warriors are considered the most powerful, the Zeus Familia showcased a level eight captain, accompanied by numerous level seven and six members. In terms of dungeon exploration, both the Zeus Familia and Hera Familia ventured as deep as the 71st floor.

1 Hera Familia

Once Home To A Legendary Level Nine Adventurer

In ancient Orario, much like the mighty Zeus Family, the Hera Family held supreme power before they met their downfall. Notable for having members with the highest recorded levels, their captain was a level nine adventurer in her prime. Accompanied by the Zeus Family, the Hera Family vanquished the legendary beasts Behemoth and Leviathan, creatures resembling natural calamities.

Unfortunately, after a fierce battle with the Black Dragon, they ultimately suffered defeat and were forced to leave Orario due to competition. Despite this familia no longer being around, throughout history and even today, they’ve been renowned as the strongest, as the exploits of current adventurers in Orario have yet to surpass their achievements.
