The interactive dating game titled “Date Everything” boasts an impressive roster of voice actors, with 100 potential dates that include everyday items and abstract ideas such as self-doubt. Well-known voices contributing to “Date Everything” number in the dozens, and a fresh addition has been announced: Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Dante Basco will be voicing Dante the Fireplace.
Dante Basco Plays Dante The Fireplace In Date Everything
During an interview with Game Rant, the creators of “Date Everything”, Ray Chase, Robbie Daymond, and Amanda Hufford, shared insights about the character Dante. Since the game’s early development stages, Daymond had been eagerly anticipating this role, as he felt that Basco would be an ideal fit for a game like “Date Everything”. Daymond expressed his excitement by saying, “He has such a seductive voice!” and continued, “I thought, ‘This could work wonderfully in a dating sim!’
Choosing a fireplace as the voiceover spot for Basco subtly references his popular portrayal of Prince Zuko from “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” a character who begins as an antagonist before aligning with the good guys in a highly acclaimed story arc. The team found Basco fitting for this role because the fireplace, being one of the most prominent and recognizable items in the house, acts as a sort of focal point. Daymond mentioned that the idea struck him almost instantly.
In our cozy living room, there’s a grand fireplace, with a central hearth as its heart. It struck me that this was reminiscent of Dante’s design. There was also a nod to Avatar, though not exactly subtle. I thought, “This is too ideal a setting not to invite him over and see what he could do,” and he certainly delivered an exceptional performance.
Many More Date Everything Character Reveals Are Coming
Dante Basco has been added to a stellar cast that was previously announced, which includes Laura Bailey, David Sobolov, Ben Starr, Marisha Ray, Neil Newbon, and others. The game, originally set for release on Valentine’s Day, has been postponed until June. In the time leading up to its release, Chase, Daymond, and Hufford will unveil several new characters. These reveals have taken place at conventions and through social media, with an Advent Calendar during the holiday season offering twelve days of thrilling surprises.
In the game “Date Everything“, Dante the Fireplace could be one among many characters that players can court, but the developers are particularly eager for players to encounter him because he’s an entertaining character with a surprising narrative, as Daymond stated. “He’s full of fun and has an unanticipated storyline,” Daymond explained. Chase concurred, stressing that each character in the game is well-developed, offering multiple outcomes for players to explore. “Each one deserves their own spotlight,” Chase added.
Confirmed by the team, the completed “Date Everything” project includes over 1.5 million words and more than 70,000 lines of spoken dialogue. Currently, around 20 out of the total 100 dateable characters have been disclosed, with many more to be unveiled in the upcoming months. The team is thrilled to continue showcasing the game’s impressive cast to its enthusiastic fans until June. Daymond exclaimed, “Let me put it out there,” stating that “Date Everything” boasts the most impressive video game cast ever. Fans of “Date Everything” are encouraged to stay updated on both the game’s social media and Game Rant for future announcements from the team.
