This article contains spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again Episode 7
Summary
- A mural in Daredevil: Born Again hints at a possible appearance of the Marvel character Morbius.
- Matt Murdock’s necklace from Sister Maggie is a significant detail included in a topless scene.
- Buck’s alter ego, Bullet, in Marvel Comics is hinted at in Daredevil: Born Again, connecting him to Wilson Fisk.
In the seventh installment of “Daredevil: Born Again,” it’s been broadcast, and as expected, there were numerous Easter eggs scattered throughout, some subtler than others. Some were clear references to events from the comics, while others intertwined real-world elements into the series itself.
One captivating aspect of this specific episode, “Daredevil: Born Again – Art for Art’s Sake,” is that it doesn’t explicitly reveal many Easter eggs as we might expect. Instead, these hidden gems are strategically scattered throughout the series. Unlike in Episode 5, where we encountered Ms. Marvel, or Episode 3, which introduced Miles Morales’ father, there’s no such reference here. The thrill of an Easter egg hunt lies in the challenge of finding them, and this episode certainly offers that! There are some Easter eggs skillfully concealed, while others appear to be so well-hidden that even though they seem obvious to some, others might have overlooked them entirely.
Is It Morbin’ Time in Daredevil: Born Again?
One Mural Appears To Feature A Certain Vampire

In the comic series Daredevil: Born Again, Murals by Muse showcase various themes and characters from the storyline. Many of these murals reference individuals or concepts previously introduced to readers. However, one mural stands out distinctly. It depicts a man in anguish, his mouth wide open to reveal what appears to be jagged, sharp teeth, which is not the usual focus of attention in such artwork.

Could the figure in the mural potentially resemble Morbius? Given the subtle similarities, it seems plausible that this artwork might be a tribute to a Marvel character less frequently depicted within the MCU. If indeed Morbius is the subject here, then it would undoubtedly serve as an intriguing nod to a character deeply rooted in New York City lore, being a regular presence in Spider-Man and Daredevil comics.
The Necklace Scene In Daredevil: Born Again
Matt Murdock’s Necklace Makes Another Appearance

In the early stages of “Art for Art’s Sake”, Matt Murdock is depicted taking a shower soon after his initial fight with Muse. This is the first time since the original series that he’s seen wearing a necklace. Given his Catholic background, it’s unclear if this is a deliberate reference. However, considering the careful planning of this show, it seems intentional that Matt wears the necklace during a moment of reflection following his fight. This visual element adds weight to the scene as he ponders his actions.
It appears the necklace is indeed the one Sister Maggie bestowed upon him. Initially, she might have seemed like just an ally, sharing his views when it’s unveiled that he possesses unique powers and has been combating crime in Hell’s Kitchen. However, it’s not until Season 3 of “Daredevil” that we discover Sister Maggie is none other than his mother, who suffered a mental breakdown shortly after his birth and sought solace in the church to rebuild her life.
Buck Brings His Old Life To Daredevil: Born Again
Buck’s Alter Ego Is Bullet In Marvel Comics

In the story ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, it’s evident that Matt Murdock chooses to don his costume again. This revelation makes Wilson Fisk’s associates aware that he won’t take the news lightly. As a result, a discussion ensues, and Fisk expresses his intense dislike for Daredevil. He recounts instances where the vigilante dismantled his criminal operations and the “blue collar billionaires” he allegedly fostered.
In the course of his speech, he steers the conversation towards his hiring of Buck, and it’s apparent that further details about his “other life” won’t be revealed. When he refers to Buck’s “other life”, though, he’s actually discussing a character from Marvel Comics – Buck Cashman, who was a notorious villain named Bullet in the comics. This character was initially a paid assassin working for the US government. It’s obvious that the version of Buck in “Daredevil: Born Again” doesn’t seem to have any qualms about taking lives, suggesting he could have been a former military assassin. Given that the Disney+ show already features a villain named Bullseye, it’s not surprising that they won’t have him play his other role.
