Daredevil: Born Again Episode 7 Recap – The Shocking Truth Behind Muse Revealed!

In this installment of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, tensions peaked as Muse appeared to be unable to restrain his murderous alter ego. Notably, the series’ initial dialogue hinted that Matt Murdock has ceased his attempts to don the Daredevil costume. As Wilson Fisk declared prior to the opening credits, “he’s back”, suggesting a return of some significance.

Currently, Fisk (also known as Kingpin or Mr. Mayor), depending on his preference these days, grapples with his double nature. From the beginning, the viewers were aware of this duality within him. The contrast between how they handle their inner struggles is intriguing because one man is revealing more of his true self, while the other continues to wear the mask. However, if you believe that Daredevil is his real identity and Matt Murdock is merely a disguise, then this perspective may change the interpretation.

What happens in Daredevil: Born Again Episode7?

Daredevil: Born Again Episode 7
Title “Art for Art’s Sake”
Written By Dario Scardapane
Directed By David Boyd

The title “Art for Art’s Sake” encompasses a narrower scope compared to the past two episodes. The story primarily revolves around what Cherry labels as Matt’s self-destructive actions, as he relentlessly pursues Muse, who successfully eluded the confrontation between him and the other two men in the previous segment.

Meanwhile, at the mayor’s office, Wilson was far from pleased to see Daredevil back in action. He launched into a heated speech with Buck Cashman, expressing his belief that Murdock was not a hero but a villain. He argued that Murdock had sabotaged his own jobs initiative. They discussed strategies for halting the masked man and any other potential vigilantes who might emerge.

Unaware to both law-abiding citizens and criminals alike, they are both pursuing the same elusive serial killer. As they discover the existence of this mysterious figure, known as Muse, and have a general idea of his appearance (in his costume), a city-wide manhunt ensues. The regular police force, Matt Murdock, along with Wilson’s special task unit, are all participating in the search. However, what they don’t realize as the story unfolds is that Muse has stopped hiding. In fact, he is currently sitting in Heath Glenn’s office.

In Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again, Heather plays a significant romantic role, but she isn’t just any ordinary character; she’s a renowned author and therapist. However, her professional commitments in the series are limited to only two clients – the Fisks and Bastion Cooper. Initially, Bastion, who seeks her help early on in the series, becomes a significant figure. Unfortunately, the show largely overlooks his storyline after his introduction. But there’s an explanation for this apparent neglect.

Wilson Fisk: The Job Creator?

  • One of the most interesting aspects of his hate for Daredevil is that he really does see the vigilante as the bad guy.
  • He believes he was helping people with his criminal enterprise, mentioning “blue collar billionaires.”
  • His conversation with Buck is either delusion or always care about what he says, even to those he trusts.

In Episode 7 of Daredevil: Born Again, the series deliberately delayed its major revelation. As Bastion converses with Heather about his troubled past, a parallel scene unfolds involving detective Angie Kim. She confides in the mayor about her findings from the investigation into Muse, expressing her conviction that she’s unmasked the true identity of the masked man. Surprisingly, it is revealed that while she discusses him as an expert martial artist, detective Kim has successfully identified her quarry.

In a candid conversation, Bastion expresses his dislike towards his parents and martial arts, but admits to having learned valuable lessons. Subsequently, he reveals his true nature to Heather, which leads him to target her as his next victim. This seems to be primarily due to the fact that she managed to uncover his secret identity during their conversation, thus exposing his hidden desires and persona.

How Does Daredevil: Born Again Episode 7 End?

Muse Is Bastion, Bastion Is Muse

In Heather’s office, ensnared by Muse/Bastion, he begins crafting another piece of art using her as his subject. He initiates the process of draining her blood, intending to end her life completely. However, just before completion, Daredevil intervenes, causing him significant pain. A fierce battle ensues as the police, tipped off by Bastion’s association with Heather, move in on the same apartment.

In the end, Heather successfully wrestles Muse’s gun, which fell during his fight with Daredevil. She uses it to shoot the artist-killer multiple times, ultimately ending his life. Just as the police storm in, Daredevil manages to slip away. The police then claim credit for the kill. Later, at the hospital, Heather wakes up and tells Matt that she sensed a mysterious figure in the room who seemed to know her. The doctor is slowly piecing together the puzzle.

The Fisks Clean Up Their Mess

Previously in the show, one of Kingpin’s doubtful followers had a meeting with Vanessa. He seemed to believe she could betray her husband. Yet, it seems he underestimated her loyalty. Towards the end of the episode, she sends a message to this henchman indicating that Wilson is dining alone at a restaurant.

As he heads to the restaurant with the intention of confronting the Crime Kingpin, it unexpectedly turns out that he isn’t there alone. In a swift turn of events, Buck shoots the man before he could even draw his weapon. Later, Fisk suggests sending some food from the restaurant home for Vanessa, subtly suggesting “tell my wife I’m fine.
