Needs Games is getting ready to launch a new, exciting challenge for fans of action RPGs called Dark December. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just starting out, you can look forward to a captivating story, easy-to-learn combat, and a deep, immersive dark fantasy world. If you enjoy games like Path of Exile and Diablo, this one is for you!

Dark December is a dark fantasy action RPG set in the same world as the 2022 game, Undecember. It builds on Undecember’s unique style, focusing on intense, satisfying combat and character progression. The game is designed to deliver the core excitement of an action RPG: thrilling battles and the rewarding feeling of becoming more powerful.

The Darkest & Deepest Action RPG

Dark December unfolds before the story of Undecember, so you don’t need to have played the first game to enjoy it. However, it does expand on the existing story and provides more background details. In this game, you won’t play as a Rune Hunter, but as members of the Syrian tribe, going on an exciting quest to learn about the gods and discover who they really are.

Dark December takes place before the events of Undecember, showing a time when the Rune Hunter hadn’t yet faced Serpens. The gods – both good and evil – are the same, but this story happens on a separate timeline. While playing Undecember first can help you understand the world better, it’s not necessary to enjoy Dark December.

Beginner Friendliness Meets Hardcore Immersion

At Needs Games, we listen to our players, and that’s why Dark December features improved combat and skills compared to our previous game. We’ve made these systems much easier to use, moving away from complex mechanics to a more intuitive style where players learn by practicing and perfecting their timing. Instead of needing to memorize strategies, Dark December challenges players to improve through hands-on experience and adapting to combat situations.

These improvements don’t come at the cost of fun. The developers have actually focused on making the game more immersive, switching from an older camera style to a fully controllable, free-moving camera. Plus, you can play with friends on both PC and mobile, and the combat feels powerful and satisfying, just like you’d expect from a polished action RPG.

Dark December’s Classes Are Quality Over Quantity

Needs Games is making the game easier to understand by streamlining its systems and adding three unique character classes. Unlike the previous game, which didn’t have classes, this new approach offers players clear options to build characters that match how they like to play. This structured system will be especially helpful for new players.

The new classes will appeal to both veteran and new players of action RPGs. Experienced players will find a familiar style of gameplay, while newcomers will have clear options to get started. Players can choose from three classes: the Berserker, a powerful close-combat fighter with high health; the Raven, a long-range damage dealer specializing in bows; and Morgana, who uses elemental spirits and magic. Each class offers a unique way to play and build skills, adding to the game’s replay value.

A Player-Friendly Monetization Model

So, just like the first game, Dark December is going to be free to play, which is awesome! They will have ways to spend money if you want to, but honestly, it’s totally optional. You won’t need to pay anything to actually get anywhere in the game or feel like you’re falling behind – everything’s earnable through gameplay.

Unlike temporary power-ups, our paid products are designed to complete your character build and enhance your preferred play style.

Instead of just being sold, powerful items that improve a player’s abilities can be crafted or earned through gameplay. These optional purchases aren’t meant to be used up quickly; they’re designed to help players customize and enhance their unique way of playing the game.

Starting December 9, 2025, Dark December will be available for pre-registration worldwide! Players who sign up early will receive special rewards, and pre-registration also gets you free in-game items for your character during the next testing phase.
