Dark Souls Remastered Mod Finally Lets You Play The Entire Game With Friends

Summary

  • Yui’s much-anticipated Dark Souls Remastered mod is now available.
  • Over 10,000 fans downloaded the add-on within 72 hours of its release.

The remastered version of “Dark Souls” now offers smooth cooperative gameplay thanks to a recently launched modification, drawing in multitudes of gamers almost immediately after its launch.

The latest addition to our collection is a product of Yui, a well-known modifier who has completed more than a dozen successful projects. In the early part of this year, Yui was quite busy, incorporating smooth cooperative multiplayer into Dark Souls 3 in February 2025, and subsequently shifting focus to create a similar modification for Dark Souls Remastered.

The initial public unveiling of Yui’s “Dark Souls Remastered” mod with seamless co-op functionality took place recently, and it was uploaded to Nexus Mods on April 10th. In just the first three days following its release, this add-on garnered an impressive 12,150 downloads from more than 10,000 users, indicating that a large number of FromSoftware enthusiasts chose to replay the game now that seamless co-op is an option.

Instead of relying on others for assistance with the “Dark Souls Remastered” bosses, the feature that maintains multiplayer partnerships even after player demises significantly simplifies overcoming the game’s toughest obstacles. This also introduces fresh discovery opportunities, as parties are no longer confined by geographical boundaries and remain intact beyond the slaying of a boss, in addition to being accessible at any point during the game rather than just before major confrontations. Essentially, the recently unveiled mod for “Dark Souls Remastered” enables seamless multiplayer play from start to finish in a single session.

Dark Souls Remastered Seamless Co-Op Mod Includes Some Extras

In the revised version of the game, multiplayer scaling is enabled for all enemies, not just bosses, to accommodate cooperative play anywhere. This adjustment compensates for the fact that the original game environments were primarily designed for single-player experiences. However, if players wish to have an easier time overpowering the game with friends, they can disable this setting in the ds1sc_settings.ini configuration file within the mod’s installation folder. Additionally, the mod offers an option to eliminate invasions entirely, transforming Dark Souls Remastered into a strictly player-versus-environment (PvE) experience.

A key point to remember is that this extension operates with distinct save files compared to the original game, making it impossible to exchange co-op saves between the base version and the remastered one. Furthermore, it doesn’t link to FromSoftware’s servers; instead, it uses a peer-to-peer network for multiplayer functionality. This means that the seamless Dark Souls Remastered co-op mod is risk-free, as it won’t lead to any unforeseen bans. As of now, Yui hasn’t disclosed their next project idea since they’ve completed this one.
