Day One PS Plus Game Confirmed for December 8

I’m so excited! I just heard that Skate Story is going to be available on PlayStation Plus right when it comes out on December 8th. It’s a little bittersweet though, because PlayStation Plus is also losing a bunch of games next month – like Forspoken, Battlefield 2042, and Sonic Frontiers. But honestly, getting Skate Story on day one definitely makes up for it a bit!

Sam Eng is creating Skate Story, which was first shown off during Devolver Digital’s event in December 2022. Since then, the game has built up a lot of excitement. Over 50,000 people who tried the recent Steam demo were impressed by its smooth skateboarding, unique art style, and unusual story about demons.

Skate Story Heads to PlayStation Plus and Extra on December 8

Good news for PlayStation Plus subscribers! Skate Story will be available on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium starting December 8th, as announced on the PlayStation Blog. This unique third-person skateboarding game puts you in the role of a demon tasked with an unusual mission: skate all the way to the moon and eat it! The Devil made a deal – complete this impossible ride, and the demon will be freed from eternal servitude. Players will journey through the nine circles of the underworld, encountering strange allies and dangerous demons who want to stop them along the way.

In Skate Story, you’ll complete missions that involve performing tricks at specific locations. The game also includes challenging boss battles where you’ll need to quickly pull off certain trick combinations. When you’re not on a mission or fighting a boss, you can hang out in the game’s hub world to unlock new tricks and gear, and customize your skateboard with different designs and stickers.

People first saw glimpses of Skate Story in 2020, but the game gained wider recognition last year after being showcased at Summer Game Fest and the Tribeca Games Festival. IGN’s Charlie Wacholz was very impressed after playing a demo, immediately adding it to their Steam wishlist. Brendan Caldwell of Rock Paper Shotgun described the game as looking like “a piece of modern art” after getting a preview. The full game is coming out soon, and PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to play it for free.
