It’s a bummer, but the developers have said it will still come to Game Pass eventually – just not this year. Game Pass has always been amazing for discovering cool indie games, so I’m still looking forward to playing it when it finally arrives!

The playlist included fitting tracks like John Denver’s “I’m Sorry,” Guns N’ Roses’ “Patience,” and The Beatles’ “It Won’t Be Long,” offering a lighthearted take on the disappointing news.
Earlier this year, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, spoke highly of the upcoming game Mixtape, saying it will be a fantastic addition to Xbox Game Pass. While Mixtape might not be widely known, it looks like a must-play for fans of 80s and 90s music, coming-of-age stories, and distinctive art styles. The game tells the story of three friends who are mysteriously drawn back into memories of their childhood, all triggered by a powerful playlist. Unfortunately, Mixtape isn’t the only game delayed to next year – Witchbrook was also pushed back from its original 2025 release. While it’s disappointing to wait, delays ultimately allow developers to polish their games and deliver the best possible experience. Mixtape has a promising concept and distinctive art style, so extra development time should be beneficial. With so many great games coming out, it’s hoped Mixtape won’t get overlooked. The developers, Beethoven & Dinosaur, are still working on the final touches, and are expected to announce a firm release date soon.
