The 2019 release of DayZ on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One expanded its reach for delivering chilling experiences to players. As a free game offered through PS Plus in August 2025, novice gamers will now get to understand the excitement surrounding this MMO.
PS Plus Gives DayZ New Lease of Life
According to the DayZ X page, about 1.3 million new players have added DayZ to their PlayStation Plus collection last month. This doesn’t necessarily mean all these individuals are actively playing it, but we can say that more than a million gaming libraries have become host to the infectious enthusiasm for DayZ.
Continuing: “On Day 1 alone, over 300,000 freshies arrived in Chernarus and Livonia.”
Approximately one-fourth of those who downloaded DayZ started playing the game immediately, across all platforms. This amounts to over 650,000 players active simultaneously.
An unexpected surge of players put a lot of strain on the game’s servers, leading to problems. Even after setting up more than 300 additional servers, they had to issue an apology for the server troubles.
