DayZ Update 1.28 Patch Notes

Have you ever found yourself in a scenario where you dodged being pursued by swarms of zombies while only having a bat and a hope as your defense? If so, I’ve got some exciting news: The highly anticipated zombie survival game, DayZ, has officially launched update 1.28 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

The latest update for DayZ introduces fresh, dynamic features, which Bohemia Interactive, renowned for their work on ARMA, hopes will address longstanding issues that arose following the problematic launch of the DayZ Frostline update the previous year.

DayZ Update 1.28 Patch Notes

In our discussions, we’ve introduced fresh tools for self-protection or causing unimaginable harm, wreckage from helicopters, and for the first time, enigmatic boats appearing on the shore – civilian and military alike. As is typical in DayZ, these new additions bring about numerous opportunities for gain, but also significantly increase potential dangers.

Frostline Expansion

Remnants of a once-civilized era can now be found scattered amidst the frozen, volcanic landscapes of Sakhalin.

Adversity befallen the ambulances scattered across the island chain. They’re stocked with vital medical equipment yet tend to draw an unwelcome, sickly group, so consider your actions carefully before rushing towards the white and red vehicles.

Wreckage from downed helicopters, easily spotted by the smoke trails, now serve as locations where survivors can gather useful items. Additionally, the diverse assortment of vessels like fishing boats and patrol craft that were stranded following the spread of the virus in the region offer exciting exploration opportunities.

If you’re seeking a more tranquil experience, you might find it more convenient to bypass a journey to Iceland. Instead, you could discover cooler, superior hot springs in Sakhalin. However, be cautious around geysers to avoid an unexpected transformation into a culinary delight.

New Toys

A true zombie apocalypse wouldn’t be complete without a diverse collection of firearms to handle the throngs of infected advancing towards you. In DayZ, these weapons serve not only as defense against the undead but also as valuable tools in dealing with other players. The latest update, version 1.28, introduces two new weapons ideal for close-quarter combat situations.

To start off, we have the RAK-37, a compact weapon that operates on an open bolt system and fires .380 ACP ammunition. Unlike most guns, this one doesn’t have a fire selector switch, keeping it perpetually in full auto mode. However, this becomes challenging because its magazine can only hold 15 or 25 rounds at most. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support any additional accessories, but it does come equipped with an integrated grip and boasts near-complete waterproofness.

In update 1.28, a new toy added is the R12 shotgun, modeled after the Benelli M4, featuring a standard grip and stock rather than a pistol grip. In DayZ, it can hold one round in the chamber along with seven more in the magazine. It also has attachments for sights and lights, but keep in mind that its range performance isn’t great.

In this game, other types of weapons receive updates like added scope choices, which means that even an old hunting rifle from your grandpa can become effective if you manage to create some space between you and the target.

Here are three types of optics: The Russian PSO-6 (6 times magnification), Leupold Mark 4 (variable, ranging from 3.5x to 10x), and Sportpoint (2 times) assault scopes. All three operate using batteries. While it may not be ideal for sniping tasks, the Sportpoint scope is versatile due to its expansive field of view, making it suitable for a variety of uses.

In this game update, all weapons received a tuning-up, enhancing their effectiveness against the infected and significantly improving their stability when fired from a prone position. However, to keep things fair, minor adjustments were made to the dispersion and recoil of most weapons.

All The Fixes

In the latest DayZ update 1.28, they’ve refined the sound effects and animations for submachine guns, hunting rifles, and sniper rifles. Additionally, they’ve made it slightly less terrifying when your teeth chatter.

To avoid infected characters passing through floors unnaturally, their teleportation devices have been removed since they were previously infected. This change aligns nicely with the modified collision shapes in certain problematic zones within the game environment.

The issue with the multiple server browsers crashing and having lag spikes has been addressed and resolved, making it less stressful to navigate through them without pulling your hair out.
