6. A New Power Awakens Part 1

Divine Entrance

  • Release Date: April 28, 2020
  • Season: 1
  • Price: $9.99 (A New Power Awakens Set Bundle)

As a passionate fan, I’d rephrase it as: “A New Power Emerges – Part 1” marks the start of a journey beyond Dragon Ball Z, where Vegeta and Goku are given the opportunity to boost their power levels by squaring off against deities themselves. Following rigorous training under the guidance of an angel, these Saiyans find themselves tasked with alleviating the god of destruction’s boredom.

From a passionate fan’s perspective, this episode seems less like a faithful retelling of “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods” and more like an elaborate side mission. Thankfully, it isn’t exclusive to seasoned players, allowing those who are still leveling up to test their mettle against the gods. It offers a unique opportunity for beginners, as it grants transformations ranging from Kaioken to Super Saiyan God, providing another pathway for growth in preparation for the main storyline of the base game.

5. A New Power Awakens Part 2

Level Beyond Gods

  • Release Date: November 17, 2020
  • Season: 1
  • Price: $9.99 (A New Power Awakens Set Bundle)

Title 2 of “A New Power Awakens” picks up where its DLC installment left off, delving deeper into the storyline of “Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F”. The two Saiyans now have additional training avenues to elevate their powers to Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan. After achieving this transformation, they confront a former adversary seeking revenge.

Its representation features a fresh, recognizable antagonist and a horde battle mode, allowing players to engage in repeated skirmishes against waves of adversaries. Players find it straightforward to reduce the number of minions when given the chance to unleash a combined team attack that obliterates enemies and debris. The Z-fighters encounter the strength of the Frieza army before confronting their boss, who channels his irritated fury to demonstrate his training abilities, something he despises as much as Saiyans do.

4. Goku’s Next Journey

End Of The Beginning

  • Release Date: February 21, 2024
  • Season: 2
  • Price: $13.99

Titled “Goku’s Next Adventure“, this installment serves as a satisfying conclusion to Dragon Ball Z. It provides a compelling glimpse into the growth and development of characters post-Kid Buu saga, particularly focusing on the Saiyans’ families. Notably, Goku encounters the rising generation of warriors, including Pan, Goten, and even Uub.

The final episode is packed with elements from earlier installments, ranging from horde mode to ground battles. However, it doesn’t forget about its fresh content such as the mini-story involving the two Saiyans, although they may not be as grandiose as previous versions. Regardless of the smaller updates, wrapping up Goku’s story in this game is quite fulfilling at present.

3. The Warrior Of Hope

Future Downfall

  • Release Date: June, 10 2023
  • Season: 1
  • Price: $19.99

The Champion of Optimism deviates slightly from the primary character’s storyline to highlight the future he strived to create. A fresh generation emerges due to Trunks mentoring Gohan, preparing them for a new, formidable menace terrorizing the city – the androids. Their tremendous power introduces a new scenario, Android Assault, depicting their relentless pursuit.

Under the latest setup from the DLC, Half-Saiyans now move stealthily, fearing detection by Red Ribbon Army drones since they perceive themselves as easy targets. Being spotted means summoning the powerful siblings, which necessitates finding a swift exit. This shift instills prudence, heightened awareness of surroundings, and strategic thinking against an overpowering entity.

2. Alone Against Fate

Saiyan Blood

  • Release Date: January 13, 2023
  • Season: 2
  • Price: $19.99

Alone Against Fate offers an engaging exploration of Goku’s ancestral race, the Saiyans. Although the destruction of their race was well-known, the events leading up to it were seldom encountered. It is the first time players can set foot on Planet Vegeta and interact with other Saiyans, rather than merely seeing the planet as a backdrop in stages.

Bardock was looked down upon as a common warrior, yet he excelled in battle. It’s awe-inspiring to see how Saiyans adapt to alien worlds, reducing their enemy’s numbers and strength with a new strategy called annihilation events. This tactic significantly eases the struggle when capturing enemy bases. Bardock was no stranger to attacking hostile armies, suffering heartbreaking losses, and even catching glimpses of the future. Eventually, he met the same grim fate as his fellow Saiyans.

1. The 23rd World Tournament

Return Of The King

  • Release Date: August 17, 2023
  • Season: 2
  • Price: $13.99

The 23rd World Tournament offers a distinct viewpoint on a storyline not explored by any other Dragon Ball game before. It marks the debut of playable teenage Goku, providing a peek into Goku’s early struggles against Demon King Piccolo and his descendants. Given that flying is rarely seen in classic Dragon Ball, this arc introduces a fresh battle style reminiscent of Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, focusing mainly on ground battles.

In a tournament setting, ground battles enhance the variety of fighting techniques by combining ground and air maneuvers. Since all participants must remain within the tournament stage, these combat styles are fitting. During a tournament match, there’s an additional victory condition besides depleting the opponent’s health to zero. If any fighter is knocked out of the ring or down, the match will be awarded to the remaining combatant. This rule also applies to Goku, who will forfeit if he’s kicked out or knocked down. Proper positioning is crucial in tournament fights against assassins, demon kings, and even friendly rivals.
