DC: Strongest Versions of Batman, Ranked

As a long-time aficionado of the Caped Crusader and his multifarious iterations, I must say that these three incarnations of Batman are nothing short of mind-boggling. Each one represents an extreme manifestation of Bruce Wayne’s unyielding determination and indomitable spirit, pushed to their absolute limits in the face of catastrophic events and cosmic threats.

In terms of tactical prowess, no character surpasses Batman. However, beyond his strategic skills across different DC universes, Batman isn’t simply defined by these traits. He is also the best detective on Earth, but certain interpretations of Bruce Wayne possess divine abilities. These range from mastering the anti-life equation to controlling the powers of a Green Lantern ring, showcasing the incredible versatility of the billionaire.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve always admired how Bruce Wayne seamlessly blends brute force and strategic genius. Not to mention, his darker alter-ego, Batman, has occasionally strayed from the path, even taking on roles that border on villainy. These rogue versions of Batman are formidable enough to challenge some of the most powerful superheroes out there. Whether it’s their evil or good sides, these are the mightiest iterations of Batman across the multiverse.

8 Dark Claw

What If Batman Was Infused With Adamantium?

DC: Strongest Versions of Batman, Ranked

  • First Appearance: Marvel Vs. DC #3

During the 90s, the DC and Marvel universes came together to form what is known as the Amalgam Universe. In this unique world, many well-known characters blended and evolved into new forms. One of these blends resulted in the creation of Dark Claw. Essentially, Dark Claw is more famously recognized as Logan Wayne, a fusion of Marvel’s iconic Wolverine and DC’s legendary Batman, aka the Dark Knight.

In every incarnation of Batman, a similar childhood tragedy shapes them. Later, his skeleton is reinforced with adamantium through the Weapon X project. This fusion grants him an indestructible skeleton, retractable claws sharper than razors, and a wealth of combat abilities, transforming him into something fearsome. In our modern Gotham City, Dark Claw acts as both law enforcer and ultimate punisher.

7 The Devastator

Combining Doomsday With Batman

DC: Strongest Versions of Batman, Ranked
  • First Appearance: Dark Days: The Casting #1 (2017)

In the twisted realm of the Dark Multiverse, there dwell numerous sinister figures. One such character is a monstrosity born from Superman turning against his own kind. Overpowered by darkness, this Superman is no longer the champion Earth relied on; instead, he has transformed into a malevolent force in this world. In this particular timeline, the evil Superman coldly takes Lois Lane’s life. Desperate to confront the Kryptonian’s might, Batman resorts to injecting himself with the Doomsday virus, resulting in the creation of The Devastator.

By uniting the ferocity of Doomsday and the mental acumen of Bruce Wayne, Batman’s lone opportunity to confront Superman emerges. Equipped with newfound Kryptonian abilities, he transforms into an exceptionally powerful incarnation of The Dark Knight. Yet, this power comes at a price: his humanity gradually slips away as the virus metamorphoses, turning Bruce more into a monstrous figure instead of a heroic one.

6 The Batman Who Laughs

Batman Turned Into His Arch-Nemesis

DC: Strongest Versions of Batman, Ranked
  • First Appearance: Dark Days: The Casting #1

On Earth -22, I discovered another version of myself – the twisted embodiment known as the Laughing Batman. Unlike my usual principles, I abandoned my infamous ‘no kill’ rule and ended The Joker. Unbeknownst to me, this act triggered his insidious plot. Soon, a mutagenic gas claimed me, transforming me into the very villain I had sought to defeat for so long. With my mind now infected, a monstrous creation without morality was born.

This character shows no compassion or adherence to rules, and his actions are as ruthless as the Joker’s twisted mind, but with Batman’s vast abilities. After succumbing to madness, this darkened version of Batman betrayed his bat family, committing cold-blooded murders. Not only did he manage to seize control of the monitors, overpower Superman, and conquer him, but also he restructured the entire universe to suit his twisted desires.

5 Dawnbreaker

In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night

DC: Strongest Versions of Batman, Ranked
  • First Appearance: Dark Days: The Casting #1

There’s no question that Batman is one of DC’s most brilliant inventors, with a wide variety of suits, tools, and weapons at his disposal, allowing him to tackle any type of danger. When you factor in the strength of the Green Lantern ring, Bruce Wayne transforms into an unbeatable force. Dawnbreaker hails from Earth -32, where young Bruce finds the ring. However, after the tragic loss of his parents, he falls into a deep darkness.

As a devoted admirer, I’d recast that passage in my own voice:

4 Red Death

Batman Infused With The Speed Force

DC: Strongest Versions of Batman, Ranked
  • First Appearance: Dark Days: The Casting #1

In the same vein as Batman who has a sinister laugh, Red Death is another Dark Knight character. Originating from Earth-52, this incarnation of Batman suffered a devastating blow when his trusted sidekick, Robin, fell victim to crime. Overwhelmed by the knowledge that he wasn’t quick enough to prevent it, Bruce Wayne merged himself with The Flash and brought Red Death into existence.

By merging Batman’s talent set with the power of the Speed Force, Red Death transformed into Earth’s fastest and most brilliant detective. Yet, consumed by dark ambitions, he strayed onto a sinister path. With the potential of the Speed Force within him, this adaptation of Batman boasts superhuman swiftness. Furthermore, he can fashion deadly constructs from the Speed Force to defeat his adversaries, while still preserving his strategic acumen.

3 Omega

Batman Wielding The Anti-Life Equation

DC: Strongest Versions of Batman, Ranked
  • First Appearance: Batman: Last Knight On Earth #1

In a dystopian future where mankind aligns with wickedness, Batman transforms into the ominous figure known as Omega. Disillusioned by humanity’s actions, Omega takes on the role of an oppressive ruler, convinced that subjugation is the key to their survival. As such, he imposes his rule with an iron fist, and those who dare to challenge him meet a gruesome end, reduced to nothingness. In this world, Batman reigns supreme as a conqueror.

To satisfy his warped ambitions, Omega harnesses the anti-life equation. Moreover, his robust bat suit is capable of subduing the toughest adversaries without Batman needing to exert much effort. Although this interpretation of Batman exhibits dictatorial tendencies, his actions are driven by a deep concern for humanity’s wellbeing. He is willing to employ any method necessary to safeguard them.

2 Batmanhattan

A Sick Creation Of The Batman Who Laughs

DC: Strongest Versions of Batman, Ranked
  • First Appearance: Dark Nights: Death Metal #1

It’s clear by now that the Dark Multiverse is a warped realm, as its name suggests. Despite numerous fusions being present, Batmanhattan, also known as the Final Bruce Wayne, stands out as the most powerful among them. This character comes into existence when Batman who laughs plays one of his dark pranks. By trapping Bruce inside an experiment aimed at recreating divine energy, this strange manifestation is born.

After gaining the formidable abilities of Dr. Manhattan, the Final Bruce Wayne emerges as one of the most powerful entities across the entire DC Universe. This revamped Batman boasts superhuman strength, durability, and flight capabilities that are merely the tip of the iceberg. If he so chooses, he can even modify the very structure of space and time. Equipped with omnipresence and the power to shape reality, this extraordinary figure is known as Batmanhattan, a being who faced off against the god-like entity Perpetua within the DC Universe.

1 God of Knowledge

What If Batman Became An Actual God?

DC: Strongest Versions of Batman, Ranked
  • First Appearance: Justice League #42

Discussing fictional deities, it’s more manageable to engage them when both parties are evenly matched. Therefore, in his quest for parity against his adversaries, Batman ultimately transforms into a God of Knowledge. During the Darkseid War, mankind faced the danger of the Anti-Monitor, one of the most powerful entities within the DC universe. To combat this menace, Batman took his place on the Mobius Chair and merged with the knowledge of the entire cosmos.

As a dedicated admirer, I can’t help but marvel at the fact that he is not only an unparalleled strategist on this Earth, but now, he possesses absolute wisdom. To make matters even more extraordinary, this position grants him abilities to bend reality and traverse different universes. Throughout the vast expanse of time and space, Batman has embodied the mightiest manifestation of himself as the Cosmic Oracle. It’s no exaggeration to say that The Dark Knight is the ideal candidate to shoulder the immense knowledge burden bestowed by this powerful chair.
