In the game “Dead by Daylight,” you’ll find an assortment of distinct perks, each with its own special functions. Although each perk has unique effects, they can be categorized for specific purposes. To get the most out of your gaming experience in “Dead by Daylight,” it’s crucial to have a balanced mix of perks, rather than just selecting random top-tier Killer perks that might not align with your strategy.
In the game “Dead by Daylight,” Tracking Perks serve a crucial role for Killers, enabling them to gather intel on Survivors’ locations and the status of Generators they’re working on. These perks are invaluable in helping Killers make informed decisions about their strategy. Here are some top tracking perks for Killers in “Dead by Daylight.
10. Forced Hesitation
Survivors Near Another Survivor Put In A Dying State Is Hindered
In the fast-paced gameplay of Dead By Daylight, taking a moment’s pause during intense chases almost certainly results in being caught by the Killer – a phenomenon we might call “Forced Hesitation.” This perk will cause all other Survivors to move 20% slower for 10 seconds whenever they are within 16 meters of another Survivor who has just entered a dying state. Initially designed for the Singularity, this perk can be acquired by any Killer seeking to improve their ability to track their quarry more effectively.
16 meters might appear “too close” for Forced Hesitation to be categorized as a “tracking” Perk, but it’s crucial to consider that Survivors frequently congregate in strategic spots – particularly at Generators. In critical conditions, a Survivor may not pose much risk to Killers, especially if this situation offers an opportunity for the Killer to injure another Survivor while they are hindered. When used with abilities like Ultimate Weapon, Forced Hesitation allows Killers to track other Survivors who attempt to aid their injured ally.
9. Ultimate Weapon
Nearby Survivors Scream When A Locker Is Opened
Tracking down M1 Killers can be challenging, especially when survivors are familiar with the map and can quickly spot optimal hiding spots or high ground to evade pursuers. However, dealing with an Xenomorph is another story due to its unique Ultimate Ability Perk. Essentially, this Perk ensures that any survivors within a 32-meter range of the Killer will emit a scream when the killer opens a locker within their proximity.
With an 80/70/60 second recharge time, each use of the Ultimate Weapon temporarily blinds surrounding Survivors for 30 seconds, making it challenging for them to dodge pursuits. This ability is particularly effective for Killers who have slower mobility or smaller Terror Radii and require a head start to catch their targets.
8. Rancor
Reveal The Killer’s Aura To The Obsession, But All Survivor Auras Are Also Revealed To The Killer
In the game Dead By Daylight, the players who survive must repair all Generators to open the Exit Gates and leave the Trial. This is something that the Killers aim to prevent. While repairing Generators is essential for survival strategy in Dead By Daylight, it could lead to the downfall of Survivors when they have the Rancor Perk. Previously belonging to the Spirit, Rancor designates a specific Survivor as an Obsession. When a Generator is completed, the Obsessed Survivor can see the Killer’s presence for 5/4/3 seconds, but all Survivors become visible to the Killer for 3 seconds. Additionally, activating Exit Gates will cause the Obsessed Survivor to be permanently marked with the Exposed Status Effect, making them vulnerable to a one-hit down and a guaranteed one-hit kill by the Killer.
Initially, it may appear that showing all Survivors within three seconds could be overly daring, since activating a Generator is essential for this method to function. However, Rancor functions optimally as an emergency tracking Perk, allowing Killers to benefit from a Generator’s activation regardless. This advantage also applies when the Exit Gate opens, as the continuously Exposed Obsession provides the Killer with an opportunity for a guaranteed kill during the Trial.
7. I’m All Ears
Rushed Vaults Reveals The Survivor’s Aura
In the thrilling world of “Dead By Daylight”, chases are a crucial element that shapes the survival strategies of both Survivors and Killers. Typically, Survivors attempt to outmaneuver Killers by jumping over obstacles or collapsing pallets to disrupt their path. However, with the introduction of the perk “I’m All Ears“, relying on swift movements alone to evade Killers will no longer be an option. Previously exclusive to the Ghost Face, this perk now reveals the Aura of any Survivor performing a Rushed Vault within a 48-meter radius of a Killer for a staggering six seconds.
In just six seconds, when I’m All Ears is active, the Survivor’s Aura becomes visible to the Killer. This brief window gives Killers an opportunity to use their crucial abilities or anticipate the Survivor’s movements, increasing the chance that they might catch the Survivor.
6. Scourge Hook: Floods Of Rage
Reveal Survivor Auras When A Survivor Is Unhooked
As a devoted fan, I’d like to share my take on describing the “Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage” in a more personal and easy-to-understand way:
In the heat of a game, I find myself wielding the Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage – an exceptional Hook-based Perk. When triggered during gameplay, four random hooks mysteriously transform into glowing Scourge Hooks. Now, if a Survivor unfortunate enough to be on one of these Scourge Hooks gets rescued, the locations of all other Survivors are exposed for 5, 6, or 7 tense seconds! It’s a chilling sensation, knowing that your adversaries are momentarily revealed.
Despite Floods of Rage’s brief duration, it significantly intensifies Hooks into more lethal environmental hazards for Survivors. Not only does it prolong the process of unhooking, but also compels rescuers to disclose their position to the Killer, thereby potentially trading one saved Survivor for another. If a player intends to rescue their friend, they should be prepared to reveal valuable information.
5. Thrilling Tremors
The Entity Blocks Other Generators After Picking Up A Survivor
As a dedicated fan of “Dead By Daylight,” I can confidently say that generators serve as invaluable tools for killers when it comes to tracking survivors. Given their crucial role in the survivors’ escape plan, it’s understandable why they are so important. However, with seven generators scattered across any given ranked match, it can be overwhelming for a single killer to keep tabs on all of them. So, where does one start looking? Thanks to the Thrilling Tremors perk, the question becomes: where should I avoid looking? This perk springs into action as soon as a killer captures a survivor, causing the Entity to block all generators that aren’t being actively repaired by other survivors.
The perk Thrilling Tremors, originating from Ghost Face, has a cooling-off period of 100/80/60 seconds. However, it offers an exceptional advantage: any generators that the Entity is obstructing become illuminated with a white aura. For keen Killers, this implies that the generator not glowing white is likely where a Survivor can be found.
4. Surveillance
All Regressing Generators Are Revealed In White
Coming from the Saw series, it’s no shock that a master of traps like The Pig would keep tabs on anything worth noticing. That’s why the Surveillance Perk was designed with them in mind – even if they can’t monitor their victims through cameras during their “games,” they’re given the ability to see activity within Generators. With Surveillance equipped, any generators that are nearing completion will be highlighted by a white glow, making it easier for Killers to always know the status of all generators at once.
What sets Surveillance apart is its additional impact: whenever regression interruptions occur, the Generator will glow yellow, indicating it has been tampered with by a Survivor, revealing their location. This feature resembles the importance of timing in the movie series Saw, where swift action determines survival or death; similarly, repairing generators under the threat of the Killer’s arrival becomes a race against time with Surveillance.
3. Tinkerer
Trigger A Loud Noise During Generator Repair
In the game Dead By Daylight, fixing generators is a crucial survival tactic for players, which often leads them to split into teams. Some focus on repairing generators while others attempt to lure the Killer into chases. Ideally, they can distract the Killer long enough to unlock the Exit Gates and escape. However, with the Tinkerer Perk, the Killer will ensure that Survivors who think they can repair generators without hassle will face a tough challenge in their final stand.
Essentially, the character known as the Tinkerer sets off a Loud Alert when a Generator is fixed to 70% completion, thereby disclosing its location. Furthermore, this action makes the Killer invisible for a brief period (12/14/16 seconds), enabling them to catch unsuspecting Survivors off guard as they don’t know where it would be best to escape. Given that Tinkerer activates only once per Generator during each match, Survivors will likely encounter an invisible Killer at least five times in a single game.
2. Whispers
The Entity Whispers When Survivors Are Nearby
In essence, what makes the storyline of “Dead By Daylight” so chilling isn’t just the presence of various Killers from diverse dimensions, but more so the control they all seem to be under – a mysterious entity hidden within the fog, who orchestrates their actions. This entity significantly tips the scales against the Survivors whenever it is present, and it’s the “Whispers” that make this even more unsettling, as the Entity can silently communicate with the Killers when at least one Survivor is within a certain range (48/40/32 meters) of them.
As a seasoned gamer, I can’t stress enough how valuable the Perk Whispers is during chases with Killers. Unlike other Perks that need specific triggers, Whispers is always active as long as Survivors are within a certain range of players. This includes when they’re crouching and hiding in lockers – a tactic often used by sneaky Survivors who rather hide than actively flee during the Trial. It’s like having an extra pair of eyes, making it easier to spot even the most elusive survivors.
1. Nowhere To Hide
Damaging A Generator Reveals The Auras of All Survivors
Killers, as they hunt for Survivors on a sprawling map, might find it wise to focus on repairing generators first. These are crucial targets since a Survivor is likely trying to fix at least one of them in order to open the Exit Gates. The advantage of doing so, thanks to the perk Nowhere to Hide, turns into an advantage for the Killer. Originally available only to the Knight, Nowhere to Hide essentially grants a useful ability when a Killer damages a Generator – it reveals the Auras of all Survivors within 24 meters for 3/4/5 seconds.
As a cunning Killer, I’ve found this setup to be a game-changer. Instead of chasing survivors actively, I prefer to keep an eye on generators under repair. Survivors are often nearby when a generator is being fixed, so using the perk “Nowhere to Hide” can effectively lure them out in the open, making it easier for me to close in.
