As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to announce that my favorite 2v8 game mode is making a comeback in “Dead by Daylight” this November! This refreshed version promises exciting new Killers, maps, and additional features that will set the 2v8 experience apart from its previous form, enhancing the charm of “Dead by Daylight”.

The “2v8” game mode in “Dead by Daylight” was first introduced on July 25 and continued until August 15. Initially, it was scheduled to last until August 8, but due to enthusiastic responses from players of “Dead by Daylight”, the developers decided to extend its initial run by an additional week. Stefan Beauchamp, the production head, mentioned that their aim is to establish “2v8” as a permanent feature in “Dead by Daylight”, using player feedback from the initial phase to refine and enhance the mode. Approximately three months after being taken out of the game, “2v8” will return with new features.

2v8, a popular mode in “Dead by Daylight,” is set to return from November 12 to November 26. The updated version of this mode now includes community suggestions to provide more content and enhance gameplay. This includes new playable killers such as The Trapper, The Wraith, The Hillbilly, The Nurse, The Huntress, The Blight, The Spirit, and The Deathslinger. Additionally, all “Dead by Daylight” Survivors will be playable during the return of 2v8. New versions of the Yamaoka Estate and Grave of Glendale maps will also be available in the limited-time game mode, along with other maps for the existing Realms.

Dead by Daylight Brings Back 2v8 for Limited Time Starting November 12

  • Available until November 26
  • Eight playable Killers: The Trapper, The Wraith, The Hillbilly, The Nurse, The Huntress, The Blight, The Spirit, and The Deathslinger
  • All Survivors will be playable
  • New maps, including 2v8 versions of Yamaoka Estate and Grave of Glendale
  • Survivors will receive Active Abilities and improved Unlock Abilities
  • Four Killer Classes to choose from: Shadow, Brute, Enforcer, and Fearmonger

In the 2v8 scenario of “Dead by Daylight,” the developers plan to level the competition by providing Survivors with Active Abilities, as well as enhancing their Unlock Abilities. The Guide, Medic, Escapist, and Scout classes will each possess two distinct abilities unique to their role. Enhanced Unlock Abilities now grant a special perk for each Survivor Class, which can be acquired after being trapped in a cage. This allows players an opportunity to swing the game back in favor of their fellow Survivors. Active Abilities accumulate over time and can be activated to repair broken pallets, raise them, boost repair speed, and immediately recover from the near-death Dying State.

Four distinct categories of killers will be available, each tailored to a preferred gameplay approach. These four Killer Types are Shadow, Brute, Enforcer, and Fearmonger. The Shadow class focuses on creeping up on Survivors for stealthy ambushes; the Brute prioritizes intense pursuits with relentless attacks; the Enforcer excels at finishing off weakened Survivors; while the Fearmonger assists fellow Killers by boosting their movement speed across the map.

As product director Justin Brown has mentioned, the development team intends to avoid long waits between playing 2v8 in Dead by Daylight in the future. The developers plan to maintain a similar and continuous approach to 2v8 in upcoming versions, implying that there will likely be numerous updates for Dead by Daylight throughout 2025.
