As a die-hard fan of both Dead by Daylight and Castlevania, I couldn’t be more thrilled about this latest collaboration! Growing up, I spent countless hours battling Dracula and his minions in Castlevania games, and now I get to face off against him in Dead by Daylight? Sign me up!

Dead by Daylight has unveiled information about its upcoming partnership with Castlevania. Just like Dead by Daylight collaborates with other horror game series such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill, it also delves into genres that may not fall under the categories of terrifying, grotesque, or outright frightening. The latest figure from the video game world to join the game is Lara Croft from Tomb Raider.

Just like with other titles, the blend of Castlevania DLC in Dead by Daylight has stirred excitement among fans. Although not strictly horror, the series is known for its iconic characters like Dracula, Werewolves, Death, and others. This anticipation stems from the vast storyline that Castlevania offers, which suggests a multitude of possibilities for Dead by Daylight. Initially, it was thought that the main antagonist, Dracula, would be integrated, but with such a rich lore, anything could potentially make the cut.

As stated on the official website for “Dead by Daylight”, the collaboration with “Castlevania” will feature both Dracula as a playable character, or ‘Killer’, and Trevor Belmont as a survivor. Previous speculation had suggested that Dracula would be joining the game, but this was not yet confirmed. The appearance of Trevor Belmont might come as a shock, given that fans were anticipating seeing Simon and Richter Belmont instead. Some fans have observed that the characters’ designs appear to be based on their appearances in “Castlevania: Curse of Darkness”, which may explain why the more well-known Belmonts weren’t part of this collaboration.

Perks Included With Dracula and Simon Belmont

  • Hex: Wretched Fate (Dracula)
  • Human Greed (Dracula)
  • Moment of Glory (Trevor Belmont)
  • Exultation (Trevor Belmont)
  • Eyes of Belmont (Trevor Belmont)

Although the Public Test Build for the Castlevania DLC has been released, the website hints subtly about the abilities of Dracula in the game. Dracula will possess the capability to morph into either a Bat or a Wolf, each with unique skills. Players who have tried the PTB have noted that the Bat resembles Dead by Daylight’s The Spirit, capable of tracking Survivors stealthily but unable to attack directly. On the other hand, the Wolf is reminiscent of The Oni, using a Scent Orb to track characters and gaining a special attack when a certain amount is accumulated. Lastly, his primary form enables the use of Dracula’s signature flame pillars as an additional attack.

As a gaming enthusiast, let me share what I’ve learned about the upcoming Castlevania DLC for Dead by Daylight. In this expansion, Dracula and Trevor Belmont each bring unique abilities to the game. Dracula has Dominance, a hex perk that seems intriguing, along with Wretched Fate, a hex perk that echoes the series’ supernatural vibe, and Human Greed, which I find quite intriguing. On the other hand, Trevor Belmont comes equipped with the Eyes of Belmont, a perk that undoubtedly resonates with Castlevania fans, Exultation, another interesting-sounding ability, and Moment of Glory. While it’s still too early to say whether these perks will rank among Dead by Daylight’s greatest, their descriptions alone capture the essence of the Castlevania universe perfectly. The Castlevania DLC is set to go live in-game on August 27.
