Dead by Daylight is Losing Its Halloween Chapter

The popular Michael Myers content from Dead by Daylight will soon be removed from the game. This is because Michael Myers is going to be the main character in a brand new Halloween video game, planned for release in Fall 2026. For almost ten years, Michael Myers has been a favorite for many Dead by Daylight players, but as the new game nears, he’ll be leaving The Fog, along with all the Halloween themed content.

Since its release in June 2016, Dead by Daylight has kept players engaged by adding characters and monsters from popular horror movies, TV shows, and anime. Halloween was the first big horror franchise to partner with the game, and players who want to continue using content from that franchise—like Michael Myers—need to take action soon to keep it available.

Michael Myers is Officially Leaving Dead by Daylight

Okay, so as a Dead by Daylight player, I remember being super excited when Michael Myers dropped back in 2016! They added him with a DLC that also gave us the Haddonfield map and Laurie Strode as a Survivor – a perfect tie-in to the Halloween movies. But now, Behaviour Interactive has announced that everything from the Halloween Chapter – Michael, the map, and Laurie – will be removed from the in-game store on January 19th, 2026, at 11 a.m. Eastern time. It’s a bummer if you haven’t gotten it all yet!

Players who already have Michael Myers (The Shape) or Laurie Strode will still be able to play as them and use any cosmetics they’ve bought. If you haven’t gotten the special content from the Halloween movies yet, now’s the time! Soon, the Haddonfield map and the Strode Realty Key won’t be available. But don’t worry, Dead by Daylight is offering a 50% discount on Michael Myers, Laurie, and all their cosmetics until January 19, 2026. Players who already own these characters will keep access to them, though the names of their abilities will be updated – the abilities themselves will work exactly as they always have.

Even though the Michael Myers character will soon be removed from the game, players can still enjoy content from other popular horror series. A new Stranger Things crossover is coming in January, which will likely keep the show’s spirit alive with fans after the final episodes air on New Year’s Eve. The first Stranger Things pack, featuring Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, and the Demogorgon, was originally released in 2019, returned in 2023, and is still available. While details aren’t official yet, a preview suggests Vecna – a version different from the one based on Dungeons & Dragons – will be the next Killer, and many fans believe Jim Hopper and Joyce Byers will join as playable Survivors.

IllFonic Publishing

Fans of the Halloween franchise have a new game to look forward to! Illfonic recently showed off the first map for their upcoming Halloween game: Haddonfield Heights. Although the Haddonfield map will soon be removed from Dead by Daylight, players will still be able to explore the iconic town thanks to Illfonic’s version. The game is set to release on September 8, 2026, ensuring fans have a spooky experience just in time for Halloween, and won’t be without a virtual Haddonfield for long – only about eight months!
