Okay, so the New Year always brings fresh stuff to games, but it also means saying goodbye to some things we love. In Dead by Daylight, the Halloween stuff is leaving the store on January 19th. We’ll still get to use any skins or cosmetics we already bought, which is good, but the Haddonfield map and the Strode Realty Key are actually getting removed from the game completely. It’s a bit sad to see them go, honestly!
Since launching in 2016, Dead by Daylight has become a leading example of asymmetrical horror games. Many similar games, like the now-discontinued Friday the 13th and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, have borrowed ideas from its gameplay. A major draw of Dead by Daylight has been its many collaborations with famous horror franchises from movies and TV. Characters and villains from series like Stranger Things, Alien, and even Resident Evil have been added to the game as playable Survivors and Killers. The very first collaboration was with Halloween in 2016, bringing Michael Myers and Laurie Strode into the game. However, before that partnership reaches its 10-year anniversary, the Halloween content is being removed from Dead by Daylight.
When is the Halloween Content Leaving Dead by Daylight?
Players of Dead by Daylight have until 11 AM Eastern Time / 8 AM Pacific Time on Monday, January 19th to buy Halloweenthemed items in the in-game store before they’re removed. The Haddonfield map, inspired by the Halloween films, will also no longer be available to play after January 19th.
Good news: if you already own or purchase these Halloween cosmetics before the deadline, you’ll still be able to use them. Some in-game descriptions might change, but the items themselves will remain available. Right now, all Halloween content is 50% off, so it’s a great chance to grab items if you want to play as Michael Myers or Laurie Strode.
While many fans are disappointed to see this content leave Dead by Daylight*, there’s a possibility it could return in the future.
Dedicated players of Dead by Daylight will remember when content from the first Stranger Things chapter was taken out of the game, but it eventually returned after fans strongly requested it. Like the Halloween chapter, Stranger Things has always been incredibly popular within Dead by Daylight, so its comeback wasn’t entirely unexpected, even though players had to ask both Netflix and the game developers to bring it back. However, unlike Halloween, Michael Myers is now being featured in his own separate horror game, which is likely why he’s leaving Dead by Daylight.
IllFonic Publishing A new multiplayer survival horror game based on Halloween is coming in 2026 to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Currently called Halloween: The Game, it will let one player take on the role of Michael Myers, stalking the town of Haddonfield, while the other players work together as residents to survive and call for help. As Halloween gets its own online game, fans are wondering if the franchise will return to Dead by Daylight after January 19th. Considering the success of Stranger Things in that game, there’s still a possibility Halloween could be added back in the future.
