As a passionate gamer, I’m super excited to share that I’ll soon be immersed in the chilling world of Dead by Daylight, as Developer Behaviour Interactive has teamed up with the captivating anime series Tokyo Ghoul! This collaboration promises to bring a dark fantasy flair to the game, making it even more intriguing. Already, players on the Steam public test build have had a sneak peek of this crossover, and the official release is set for April 2nd. Can’t wait to dive in!
Since its debut, Dead by Daylight has welcomed numerous collaborations, given its flexible horror backdrop that can incorporate diverse characters and horror motifs from various media sources. These collaborations for the game span across survival horror games such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill, suspenseful TV series like Stranger Things, and iconic horror films including A Nightmare on Elm Street and Hellraiser. Now, anime enthusiasts can join in the excitement as the game is teaming up with a highly acclaimed anime series.
It has been officially confirmed that fan theories about Ken Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul joining Dead by Daylight are true, with the developer teasing him as one of the most dynamic killers yet. Already introduced in the Steam Public Test Build, Ken Kaneki will officially join the game on April 2nd, taking on the role of The Ghoul – a reference to his storyline in the anime where he receives a ghoul organ transplant. As The Ghoul, Ken Kaneki possesses the special ability “Kagune Leap,” which allows him to propel tentacles that adhere to surfaces and pull him forward. He can also target survivors, grabbing them and inflicting severe wounds known as Deep Wounds.
When Does the Dead by Daylight and Tokyo Ghoul Crossover Launch?
- Available now on Steam PTB
- Official launch on April 2
In the game Dead by Daylight, when The Ghoul manages to attack a survivor, it initiates Enraged Mode, which provides the Killer with an extra Kagune Leap and enhances its speed during attacks on survivors. Moreover, characters and cosmetics from the Tokyo Ghoul anime are being added to the game, such as the Rize Kamishiro Outfit, four exceptionally rare outfits for Yui Kimura (Rabbit Costume), Renato Lyra (Hide Costume), Nea Karlsson (Eto Costume), and The Ghoul (Awakened Ghoul Outfit). Additionally, there are four very rare masks available for The Unknown, Jonah Vasquez, Jake Park, and David King.
Players participating in the PTB may test drive some forthcoming updates, such as the surrender feature earlier mentioned by the developers of Dead by Daylight. From now on, when players face particular hurdles within certain situations, they will be given the choice to yield, retaining a portion of their Bloodpoints, match XP, progress on challenges, and emblem rankings. This update also addresses various bugs throughout the game, including those concerning audio, bots, and characters. Dead by Daylight players and Tokyo Ghoul enthusiasts have much to anticipate with this collaboration.
