Dead By Daylight's 2v8 Mode Survivor Classes Explained

As a dedicated fan of Dead by Daylight, I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming introduction of the new 2v8 mode! The idea of eight brave survivors taking on two terrifying killers in a chaotic scramble for survival sounds both thrilling and nerve-wracking. I can only imagine the adrenaline rush that comes with working together with my team to repair generators, heal injured allies, escape through hatches, or evade the deadly grasp of the killers.

In an exciting new development for Dead by Daylight, eight survivors will face off against two killers in a high-stakes battle for survival, making it a 10-player free-for-all. Starting July 25, all existing Dead by Daylight survivors can participate in this limited-time mode. Notably, survivor gameplay has undergone considerable changes. Instead of selecting Perks, players can now opt for one of four distinct classes, each with unique concentrations and abilities.

In their explanation, Stefan Beauchamp, head of production at Dead by Daylight, and Matt Spriggens, design director, revealed that 2v8 is designed as the game’s “fun mode,” emphasizing both mayhem and collaboration. The switch from perks to classes was made to help players concentrate on distinct aspects and roles more effectively in the swift-moving 2v8 arena. When 2v8 is released, there will be four survivor classes for players to pick.

Dead By Daylight's 2v8 Mode Survivor Classes Explained

The Guide – Focus on Generators

In 2v8 gameplay, every map comes with thirteen generators now. For survivors to leave, they must mend eight out of these thirteen. The role of the Guide is crucial as they can detect the aura of nearby generators and enjoy certain perks during the generator healing phase. Yet, once a generator is fixed, killers will be able to spot survivor locations. Consequently, the Guide must lean on their teammates for cover while performing this task.

The Medic – Focus on Healing

As a gamer, when two killers are on the prowl, I know damage will come my way in abundance. But no need to panic! The Medic is always on call. In my game, I can spot the auras of wounded survivors, and the Medic heals us faster than other classes do. This comes in handy as the Trapper sets more traps than ever before across the map, and the Wraith now shares his aura with a teammate, rendering both of them invisible to enemies.

Dead By Daylight's 2v8 Mode Survivor Classes Explained The Escapist – Focus on Speed

In 2v8 gameplay, three hatches will be accessible for survivors to exit the battlefield. Conversely, captive survivors are enclosed in cages instead of being attached to hooks. These cages inflict detrimental effects on the trapped. The importance of swiftness is amplified in this situation, and that’s where the Escapist shines. This character class can detect the presence of nearby windows and pallets, moves more quickly when injured, and bestows momentary speed enhancements to teammates.

The Scout – Focus on Stealth

In the intense 2v8 mode, it is crucial for survivors aiming to make it through alive to stay vigilant against the killers. This task can be challenging with the Wraith’s ability to cloak himself, the Nurse’s power to teleport, and the Hillbilly charging around with his chainsaw. However, the Scout possesses a valuable advantage: they can see the killers’ auras once an object such as a pallet or generator has been destroyed. Additionally, they can pass this ability on to other survivors in their field of vision. Furthermore, the Scout moves more swiftly when crouching, enabling them to quietly navigate the map and evade detection by the two killers.

From July 25 to August 8, players have the opportunity to test out the four latest classes in 2vs8 battles. (Or: For a brief time between July 25 and August 8, players can experiment with the new classes in 2vs8 battles.)

As a dedicated gamer of Dead by Daylight, I’m excited to share that Behaviour Interactive has announced plans to make the 2v8 mode a permanent feature in the game at some point in the future. This decision comes after gathering valuable player feedback during the trial period. The team is working hard to incorporate enhancements and modifications based on your suggestions, ensuring an even more enjoyable experience for all players. Plus, five killers are getting upgraded abilities, making teamwork and supporting each other even more effective. Can’t wait to try it out!

In the upcoming trial of 2v8 battles, fights will take place on expanded map versions from the original ones. These larger maps aim to provide more chaotic gameplay experiences. Players are invited to explore all aspects of the 2v8 mode during this period and share their feedback with Behaviour to help refine and enhance the new feature.
