As a long-time Marvel fan and avid gamer, I’ve been following the Deadpool and Wolverine rumors with bated breath. The latest casting rumors involving Matthew McConaughey as Cowboy Deadpool and Blake Lively as Lady Deadpool have me absolutely thrilled!

There’s been buzz about the cast of Deadpool and Wolverine, with new rumors surfacing only a few days before the movie hits theaters. The latest gossip is centered around an esteemed actor who had earlier declined Marvel’s proposal for a role in one of their biggest franchises within the MCU.

There are reports that the actors featured in the cast of “Deadpool” and “Wolverine” have appeared in previous Marvel films produced by Fox, before Disney took over. Some of these cameos have been verified through trailers, but others, such as the rumored role of Taylor Swift as Dazzler, seem to have been denied. The film is also anticipated to include various Deadpool character versions, and it’s said that two of them will be portrayed by well-known names.

Alex P. of The Cosmic Circus hinted at Matthew McConaughey’s role as Cowboy Deadpool in the upcoming “Deadpool and Wolverine” project through a tweet. He shared a GIF of McConaughey saying his famous line during an interview, adding the emojis of a cowboy hat and skull and crossbones. Fans assumed this meant confirmation, but when someone disputed Alex P.’s claim, he clarified in another tweet, “I implied it, so yes, he is.”

Alex P. shared a GIF of Blake Lively he posted in July, adding the woman, skull, and crossbones emojis in his caption. This suggested that Lively might be cast as Lady Deadpool. Although no official announcement has been made regarding the actress for this role, rumors point to Lively and Taylor Swift as strong contenders due to their connections to Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool.

It’s not unheard of for Lively or Swift (perhaps even both) to make an appearance in “Deadpool and Wolverine.” However, if Marvel Studios manages to cast McConaughey, it would be a notable addition to their roster. Previously approached to play Ego the Living Planet in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” McConaughey declined, expressing his love for the first film but feeling like he’d be an “addition” rather than a part of the sequel. In the end, Kurt Russell portrayed Ego, Star-Lord’s villainous biological father.

As a dedicated gamer and avid movie fan, I can’t help but get excited about the rumors swirling around McConaughey and Lively’s potential casting in “Deadpool and Wolverine.” However, it’s important to keep in mind that until official sources confirm or deny these reports, we’re just speculating. With so many rumors flying around, it’s safe to assume some of them might not hold water. We’ve only got a week left before the film hits theaters, and I, for one, can barely contain my anticipation. The palpable excitement among fans is evident as we all hope this collaboration between Deadpool and Wolverine will be the game-changer Marvel Studios needs to get back on track after their recent critical and box office disappointments.

Deadpool and Wolverine will be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.
