Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is about continuing the extraordinary tale created by Kojima Productions. As a sequel to their initial game release, Death Stranding 2 promises to introduce even more captivating and bizarre concepts. Although the storyline of Death Stranding can be challenging to grasp at times, its intriguing and peculiar post-apocalyptic universe is hard to tear yourself away from.
In the game “Death Stranding,” the character Higgs Monaghan, voiced by talented actor Troy Baker, stands out as an intriguing antagonist. Throughout the story, he poses a significant challenge. The upcoming sequel’s first trailer hints that Higgs will continue to be a formidable adversary for Sam and his allies. However, incorporating Higgs in “Death Stranding 2” brings the challenge of making his confrontation even more engaging compared to the original game’s boss fight.
Death Stranding 2 Will Have to Put the Pedal to the Metal With Another Higgs Boss Fight
In the game Death Stranding, Higgs’ character is larger-than-life, and his battle scene reflects this extravagance. In the second part of the Higgs battle, he squares off against Sam in a retro arcade-style brawl, reminiscent of a previous Kojima project – Metal Gear Solid 4. This shift in combat style embraces the unique quirkiness of Death Stranding. Yet, it’s unlikely that this way of fighting Higgs will be repeated again in the game.
Sam and Higgs’ Next Encounter Needs to Feel Fresh
It seems quite evident that Higgs will play a part in the narrative of Death Stranding 2, but the specifics are yet to be determined. The way he appears in the trailer still gives off a rather villainous vibe, suggesting his obsession with Amelia has grown even stronger. Following the final battle in the first game, it’s likely that Higgs seeks revenge against Sam and Fragile. However, only time will reveal the truth. If this is indeed the case, any confrontation between Higgs and Sam in a potential sequel should feel fresh and distinct. Although the arcade-style gameplay during the Higgs battle in Death Stranding was enjoyable, repeating the same style for a second boss fight might not be as captivating because it lacks the initial surprise factor.
In the finale of Sam’s battle against Higgs within Death Stranding, he chooses to let his destiny be decided by Fragile. Ultimately, she opts to abandon him at the shoreline.
It’s great news that Higgs has undergone significant modifications, bringing innovative gameplay dynamics for the antagonist. In the sneak peek of Death Stranding 2, Higgs is seen wielding an electric guitar which functions as a weapon. The extent of its powers is yet to be revealed, but it certainly sparks curiosity about potential creative battle sequences. It’s clear that Death Stranding 2 will build upon the foundation laid by its original version, while also introducing many new elements. Higgs’ guitar weapon hints at this transformation, and speculating about a boss fight using such an unusual weapon is intriguing.
Much of Death Stranding 2 Still Remains a Secret
Although Death Stranding 2 is expected to release in 2025, there remains a great deal of enigma surrounding the game. The addition of Elle Fanning and George Miller’s likeness to the cast certainly adds excitement, but the identities and roles of these new characters are yet to be clarified. The combination of familiar faces from the original cast with fresh newcomers is intriguing, leaving us curious about how Higgs’ secretive objectives might impact Sam and his expanding group of allies.
Other new cast members in Death Stranding include Shioli Kutsuna and Fatih Akin.
Currently, the enigma surrounding “Death Stranding 2” only fuels my curiosity. The path the sequel might follow remains a puzzle, yet it seems almost inevitable that Higgs and Sam will clash again, potentially in a grander scale.
