Death Stranding 2 Surprise Platform Launch Accidentally Leaked Early

A recent ESRB listing suggests that Death Stranding 2: On The Beach might be released on PC soon. Since the game came out in June, a PC version arriving in the coming months would be consistent with Sony’s typical approach to PC releases.

As a huge fan, I was so excited when Death Stranding finally came out in November 2019, especially after Hideo Kojima left Konami back in 2015. It really delivered and everyone loved it! Then, after Norman Reedus kind of hinted at something earlier in the year, we officially got the announcement of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach at The Game Awards in 2022. And wow, the sequel, which came out this June, is even better than the first – it’s absolutely incredible!

ESRB Leak Teases a Death Stranding 2: On The Beach PC Release

A listing for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach recently appeared on the ESRB website. Spotted by Wario64 and shared on X, this listing is different from the PS5 rating for Death Stranding 2 and specifically mentions the PC platform, hinting that a PC version of the game might be announced shortly.

While neither Sony nor Kojima Productions has officially announced anything, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has become a surprisingly reliable source of leaks, particularly for games being released on new platforms. Recently, the ESRB revealed ports of Red Dead Redemption for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X just hours before Rockstar Games made the official announcement. Before that, details about the Xbox Series X/S version of Silent Hill 2 Remake appeared on the ESRB website two weeks before it was unexpectedly released. Sometimes, dedicated fans even monitor the ESRB’s website code and notice updates, hinting that an announcement is coming soon. This happened earlier this year with The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, when an update to its ESRB listing was spotted a day before the game was officially revealed and released.

When Will Death Stranding 2 Release on PC?

So, I just saw the ESRB listing for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and while it doesn’t say when it’ll hit PC, it does suggest it’s coming. These listings sometimes pop up way before a game actually launches, but looking at how Sony’s handled ports in the past, it might not be as far off as we think. The first Death Stranding came to PC about eight months after the PS4 version. Though, some PlayStation exclusives have taken a bit longer – God of War Ragnarok took almost two years, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was about 15 months. So, it’s hard to say for sure, but it feels like we might not have to wait too long!

If Death Stranding 2 comes out next year, we’ll probably hear about the PC version at the 2025 Game Awards. Host Geoff Keighley is good friends with Hideo Kojima, and Kojima’s games often appear at the event. Even if the PC port isn’t announced there, the game is already a big part of the show, with seven nominations – including for Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, and Best Narrative. Given all the positive attention the game is receiving, it makes sense that Sony would want to release it on PC to reach even more players.
