The eagerly awaited sequel to “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” slated for release in June 2025, is rapidly approaching. From glimpses seen in the State of Play trailer and subsequent pre-order trailers, it appears that creator Hideo Kojima has planned another immersive expedition through the Death Stranding universe. The story will introduce new characters like Neil and Doctor, while reacquainting us with familiar faces such as Sam and Heartman. Regrettably, there are hints suggesting one of the first game’s most cherished characters may meet a tragic end.
The trailer for Death Stranding 2, set for pre-order, is deeply emotional and filled with potentially heartbreaking moments, accentuated by the powerful orchestral melody of Woodkid’s “To the Wilder.” Given its length exceeding 10 minutes, it provides ample footage for gamers to speculate and grow anxious about as they countdown to the game’s launch. Although many scenes don’t reveal specific plot details, they heavily hint at the demise or absence of a significant character in Death Stranding 2 – Fragile.
Death Stranding 2 May Have Already Teased Fragile’s Fate
Death Stranding 2’s Pre-Order Trailer Implies Fragile’s Absence in the Game
In the trailer for Death Stranding 2, it appears that character Fragile could play a crucial part in the game’s plot, but the pre-order trailer presents a somewhat contrasting narrative. Towards the end of the trailer, Sam questions whether he has been alone throughout the story, to which Fragile responds by asserting that death cannot sever their bond and that she will always be with him, regardless of circumstances. Though it’s unclear what Sam meant by “I’ve been alone this whole time,” Fragile’s response suggests that her role in Death Stranding 2 might not be as prominent, but rather a perception by Sam.
In the preview prior to pre-ordering, we see Sam and Fragile appearing to share a tender moment. This scene might be just a figment of Sam’s imagination.
It’s plausible that Fragile might be missing physically, yet somehow interacting with Sam or even manifesting herself to him, possibly via a link to the Beach. This interaction could potentially hint at the true meaning behind “Death Stranding 2‘s” subtitle, “On the Beach,” implying that Fragile may be present on the Beach, and maybe others as well. This scenario suggests that Sam might have outlived some of his loved ones. To add to the mystery, this concept is further supported by a scene displayed in “Death Stranding 2‘s” pre-order trailer, which hints at a tragic incident involving Fragile.
Fragile May Be Dead or in a Coma in Death Stranding 2
In one of the heart-wrenching scenes from the trailer for Death Stranding 2, Fragile bravely shields Lou from impending threats. As the action unfolds, she voices her struggle to leap them both clear of danger, but realizes she can only save one. In a split second decision, she jumps Lou to safety, leaving herself exposed. A mysterious figure then emerges, offering a gun, followed by a single gunshot and the screen fading to black.
The way the trailer is cut together might be misleading. It’s quite possible that Kojima, known for his talent of confusing fans, has included this as a distraction. But if the trailer isn’t intentionally deceiving us, then it could be inferred that Fragile was the one firing the gun in Death Stranding 2. If she was hit by the gunfire, her fate could either be death or severe injury, since the trailer suggests she is lying on a hospital bed at some point.
Perhaps Fragile is not physically present, but instead, he might be communicating with Sam or even manifesting himself to him, potentially via a link to the Beach.
In essence, we can’t predict Fragile’s destiny in “Death Stranding 2” until the game is released, given Kojima’s involvement. However, based on the pre-release trailer, it appears that Fragile might not accompany Sam’s journey as fans may anticipate in “Death Stranding 2”. Her absence could be a heartbreaking plotline and a significant aspect of the game, hinting at her possible disappearance, entrapment on the Beach, or communication from beyond.
