Deceive Inc. Developer Sweet Bandits Shuts Down

As a longtime follower and supporter of the gaming industry, it’s always heartbreaking to see a studio like Sweet Bandits Studios close its doors. I vividly remember the excitement that surrounded Deceive Inc., a game that seemed poised to make waves when it launched in 2023.

With the year 2024 drawing to a close, yet another video game development company, Sweet Bandits Studios (responsible for creating Deceive Inc.), has permanently ceased operations. This closure takes effect immediately.

On a forum post on Tuesday, the Canadian studio declared they are no longer in operation following a point of no return for the studio.

We’ve traveled a tough and challenging path to establish Deceive Inc. in a place that would foster growth, but unfortunately, we’ve hit our limit and can no longer proceed on this journey together,” the studio communicated.

Although we’re deeply saddened by this moment, we feel immensely grateful for the opportunity to construct this universe that we get to share with each one of you. Your enthusiasm for our project has been a constant inspiration for us, propelling us forward in an effort to make it as impactful as possible. We’ve poured our heart and soul into crafting this game, and witnessing its connection with people worldwide is the greatest joy we could ask for.

In 2023, Sweet Bandits unveiled their new venture, Deceive Inc., which was warmly welcomed by gamers on Steam. The creators themselves confirm that they are collaborating with Tripwire Interactive to manage the game and ensure its continued operation.

They mentioned that they’d pass along updates as soon as more information is available. For now, the servers and game access remain unchanged.

Although the company hasn’t disclosed the exact number of layoffs, the studio’s website indicates they employed 18 individuals at some point. However, it’s uncertain whether this figure is still current.
