Later, the creator Sui Ishida announced a sequel titled Tokyo Ghoul: re in October 2014. This sequel unfolds two years after the original manga’s events and features an entirely new set of characters. The sequel, Tokyo Ghoul: re, concluded in October 2018.

Sui Ishida’s graphic novels have garnered numerous award nominations, showcasing the author’s talent and the story’s excellence. Both series of Tokyo Ghoul have been commercially successful, with combined sales surpassing 47 million copies according to a 2021 report. Given that the report is recent, it’s likely that they’ve sold over 50 million copies by now, but this figure may increase further.

The initial anime version of Tokyo Ghoul debuted on July 4, 2014. Its second series broadcasted from January 9 to March 27, 2015. Following Tokyo Ghoul, the studio opted to produce Tokyo Ghoul: re. The premiere episode for Tokyo Ghoul: re aired on April 3, 2018, and its final episode was released on June 19, 2018.
