Deltarune Releases New Update for July 2025

Deltarune‘s recent update addresses numerous frustrating issues that emerged following the launch of Chapters 3 and 4. In this latest patch, Deltarune fixes multiple instances where players might have gotten stuck (softlocked) in their progression within the episodic RPG. Additionally, it resolves several other bothersome problems.

After a considerable delay, Chapters 3 and 4 of the game Deltarune were finally unveiled on June 5th. This double serving offered players fresh storylines and activities, which is almost four years since the last chapter was released. The sequel to Toby Fox’s popular game, Undertale, has continued to captivate fans, as more than a quarter of its Steam user reviews have come in over the past 30 days. Remarkably, both recent and overall reviews from players have garnered an impressive 98% approval rating.

Although the new version of the game received a warm welcome, it hasn’t been perfect. The developers have been diligent in addressing and fixing various issues that have arisen since the release of Chapters 3 and 4, releasing four patches and hotfixes so far. Recently, Patch 1.03 has been released to address three areas where players might get stuck while playing Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. Two of these issues are found in Chapter 3: one prevents progression when using three keys on Board 1, and the other causes the game to freeze for those who fail to reach the Power Croissant. In addition, a fix has been implemented in Chapter 4 to prevent a softlock if the tutu is not returned to the player.

Apart from the obstacles hindering progress in the latest chapters of Deltarune, there has been an issue causing a softlock in Chapter 2, specifically on the Nintendo Switch 2 version. This problem prevented further gameplay after the mouse-catching section, but it has since been fixed. The recent update also addresses other troubles players have encountered, such as a crash in Chapter 3 that occurs when players push the pyramid incorrectly and a freeze-up issue in Chapter 4 that happened when players tried to alter the octave on the large organ.

In the game Deltarune, several bosses have undergone modifications. For instance, in Chapter 3, the hit box of an unnamed boss’s Sword Tunnel attack has been scaled down, making it easier to dodge. On the other hand, Jackenstein in Chapter 4 doesn’t exhibit any alterations during the initial fights. However, if players lose this fight twice consecutively, they will notice that pumpkin damage is halved on subsequent attempts, and they will gain 50% more TP if they fail a third time in a row.

Deltarune Version 1.03 Patch Notes (July 22, 2025)

Chapter 2

[Switch 2-only] Fixed a softlock in the part where you catch mice in a basket on your head.

Chapter 3

・In the “Sword Tunnel” move of a specific boss, the area where swords can potentially hit you has been made smaller compared to its visual representation, which makes it simpler to avoid this attack.

・Fixed a softlock on the Board 1 that could occur after using only three keys.

・Fixed a soft lock if a party member fails to reach the Power Croissant.

・Fixed a crash if you pushed a pyramid the wrong way.

・Resolved a problem that made game sprites appear out-of-focus following the Tenna scene on specific platforms.

On specific computers, corrected an issue that displayed texture data rather than static images following the defeat of Tenna. [This version is PC-only.]

Chapter 4

If Jackenstein defeats you twice consecutively, the damage inflicted by the pursuing pumpkin will decrease by half. On the other hand, if he beats you three times in a row, your TP (assuming it stands for “Time Points” or “Turn Points”) gain will rise by 50%. This modification should make it less challenging for players to advance past this battle when they find it particularly tough.

・Fixed a softlock which could occur if the tutu was not returned to you.

・We addressed a problem where the standard fight music wouldn’t play during your initial encounter with Mike at the game’s start. This problem was rectified following your fight with Jackenstein.

・I’ve resolved a problem where the hitbox wasn’t functioning properly when the boss dived at you from various angles. (We’ll make further adjustments to the hitbox in the future.)

・Fixed an impossible note on the song “Knock You Down!!” in the rhythm game.

Adjusted a problem that caused Kris to seem as if they were still wearing their church attire, even after it had been taken off.

Revised the situation so that when you ask Ralsei for help with a puzzle, instead of just saying “a single button,” he provides a more detailed or helpful response.

・Fixed an issue where changing octaves on the giant piano organ thing could freeze the game.

・In the rhythm game set in Castle Town, Susie and Ralsei will no longer be incorrectly displayed during the final chapter.

Various Chapters
