Summary
- Demeo x Dungeons and Dragons: Battlemarked has received a reveal trailer.
- The upcoming VR game will combine the Demeo role-playing system with DnD classes, actions, and lore.
- No release date has yet been attached to Battlemarked.
Resolution Games has unveiled a new game titled “Demeo: Marked by Dungeons and Dungeons“. The upcoming release merges the world of the famous tabletop game, Dungeons & Dragons, with the unique role-playing mechanics developed by the Swedish studio itself.
The game titled “Demeo” was initially launched for PC in May 2021, and it later appeared on PlayStation VR2 two years afterwards. In early 2024, a collaboration between Wizards of the Coast and Resolution Games was announced, with the former planning to develop an officially licensed Dungeons & Dragons (DnD) game in virtual reality under the Swedish company’s supervision.
The project has been unveiled as “Demeo x Dungeons and Dragons: Battlemarked,” which was announced on January 29 with a trailer. This one-minute video is live-action and doesn’t display any gameplay footage, but it does hint that the forthcoming VR game based on Dungeons and Dragons will not only benefit from Resolution’s expertise in Demeo, but also represent a comprehensive fusion of the two intellectual properties.
Demeo x Dungeons and Dragons: Battlemarked Won’t Have a DM
In the new game “Battlemarked”, the role-playing system by Demeo will be central. Unlike a typical Dungeons and Dragons game, Battlemarked won’t require a dungeon master. Instead, it emphasizes social strategy, promoting conversation between players as they collaborate on both tactical and narrative decisions. While the core of Battlemarked is based on the Demeo role-playing system, it also incorporates Dungeons and Dragons classes and actions, along with elements from the extensive franchise lore.
Beyond collaborative gameplay, Demeo stands out as a unique Dungeons & Dragons-inspired title due to its action role-playing system that includes survival aspects. Since the developers haven’t specified a definite release date for the project, it seems doubtful that Demeo x Dungeons and Dragons: Battlemarked will appear on the market anytime soon.
Demeo x Dungeons and Dragons: Battlemarked Will Have DLC Campaigns
As for where it will be playable, the game is currently set for release on PC, augmented reality equipment, and a console yet to be named, which could potentially be the PS5 given Sony’s current-gen system is the only one with a compatible VR headset at present. Resolution Games has kept quiet about the pricing details for Demeo x Dungeons and Dungeons: Battlemarked as of now. For your information, Demeo sells for $39.99 on Steam and the Meta Store. Upon its release, there will be two narrative-focused campaigns in Battlemarked. Resolution Games has hinted at adding more narratives post-launch, possibly through DLC. However, they haven’t explicitly confirmed whether this additional content will be paid or not.
